I am building a 393 stroker with the Perform, aer RPM package. It will see the occasional 6500 rpm blast on the street, but not a lot and no track time. What are the pros and cons between hi volume, hi pressure and normal stock? What do you guys suggest?

Thanks!

Melling high volume pump. Plenty of pressure and great for cruising and the occasional track run.

I agree with the last thread. High volume is better than high pressure. High pressure pumps have been known to erode bearing surfaces faster. Make sure if you choose a high volume pump that you replace the oil pump shaft with a good quality hardened shaft. High volume or pressure equals increased shaft stress.

Melling high volume unit... PN# M-68hv, don't forget to replace the pick up while you're at it.

Watch out though, because sometimes the hv pump can drain your pan faster at idle, leaving you with lower pressure. Large capacity pan fixes this.
