Got the car dynoed and although its making 516 at the wheels, the setup is pretty safe with a main support, intercooler, BTM, rich fuel, and max power at 5000 rpms. I've been thinking about bumping up the carb from a 700 to a 750 using a proform main body, then installing a Torker II intake. Going against my better judgement and the props from JBA for posting good numbers; I dont like the low rpm for max power. It just shows that the engine has way more power locked away eventhough Im pushing its strength limits. I know, the best choice if I had a stronger block would be AFR 185s and a custom cam, but could I up the power and rpms by moving up to a slightly larger carb and intake. The intake will also more closely match the TF heads. The power was actually still building on the dyno but we shut down because the carb couldnt provide anymore gas. By going to a larger carb and intake, one could get more gas into the engine and not only prevent leaning, but move more air to support higher rpms. I think just the main body swap and intake could add 20 more horses. Not only to make more power, but it would prevent leaning out if I overrev the engine. I think I'll do it just as a safety measure.
I'd be grinning ear to ear for a week straight after dyno numbers like that.
