OK I'm waffling... - Waffling averted, thanks for the help!

I have a K&N FIPK showing up at a local parts store likely tomorrow, my Stang shows up mid week and I plan on getting some Flows in for it too. I was all set to go with the K&N and just live with it but I in my infinite wisdom have done nothing but read for the last 2 days various Mustang forums and I may be waffling towards my direction in CAI.

So I have a few questions.

1 - With the JLTII and C&L CAI kits. How easy/quick is it to swap back to the stock intake setup? I am of the mind that the dealership I am dealing with won't give me a hassle given how they push mods but just in case.

2 - HP wise the JLT and C&L are really really close, so for me it comes down to looks and price. I like the C&L package for OEM appearance, but the JLT can be ordered with the painted tube which is cool.

3 - Tuners that come with are different, so which is the better unit? Can both be plugged into my PC to download new tunes from vendors and which tends to be the most useful?

4 - What is the cheapest price for both units? Thus far I've found...

JLT directly - $555 for black painted intake tube and tuner. Just waiting to find out shipping to Canada.

RPMOutlet - $599 for Street C&L with tuner. Shipping is $38US and as a plus they use USPS (less duty and hassle for me).

Help! I'll have to return the K&N tomorrow but it shouldn't be an issue, it'll be unopened.

For one thing, it's pretty basic to change things back to stock. As far as which kit you should go with, my opinion is do more research on which tuner your local (reputable) Mustang specialist uses. Both of the two major hand tuner companys have a good product which is only a tool for programming the car's pcm. You won't have a problem downloading a tune with either one, you'll just need the interface to connect to your pc. You probably won't be able to find a better price than you're getting. I know RPM Outlet is one of the very best as far as prices go.

you can get the JLT w/ Xcal2 for $554 shipped from brenspeed. like anthony said, its easy to swap out, no matter which intake you use. also like he said, make sure if you have a tuner local that can dyno tune your car, find out which tuner they use. otherwise, you will have to buy the other tuner if you get the wrong one. they both have their pros/cons when compared to each other, and are good products.

Looks like one of the big shops here does Diablo, I'll probably go the C&L way. I was leaning towards it as it was, just like the looks a bit more. Anyone ever painted that intake?

If you really want it to look nice, it should be prepped and shot with automotive finish. Bigcat has probably some experience with that.

should be easy to paint for a pro. if you take it to a shop, it will be expensive, as they have to prep it and everything. try to find someone to do it on the side. shop labor rates here are $46/hour. adds up quickly.

Thanks for the advice. I likely won't bother. It'd rather spend the bucks doing a proper spoiler delete. That is unless I can find "the right wing".

Waffling has finished, C&L/Diablo kit on it's way. I went and returned the K&N (didn't even have it yet even).
