My friend got into a minor accidnet the other day. He ran over a kid, didn't kill him.. but it wasn't his fault. The kid decided to cross a busy intersection without the light and well pretty much nearly died..

Anyways friend got scared, obviously nearly killing someone can be a traumatizing experience, and he wants to get rid of his mustang. Well, I dunno if you guys know, but when you run over someone wher I live, you go into a gov. inspection, and well the car failed a few things.

Suspension was TOO low, the mechanic had told my friend the last owner kinda had done a half-ass job lowering the ride. The brakes also should be upgraded to disc.. besides that it just has some minor electrical problems...

Other than that.. the car runs just fine.. looks really good, in fact the body is pretty much on par with a new one.. with SOME minorr minor scratches and what not..

He wants to sell the ride for $1500, obviously I'm considering it.. as who wouldn't? The thing is.. I supposedly need to replace the whole suspension or at least LIFT IT, and replace the brakes before the government will let me take it on the raod..

any suggestions?

p.s. its black, '88 gt. 85k miles, 5 spd, hatchback w/ a BRAND NEW deck

Sounds like a good deal to me, although as his friend you should convince him to keep it.

There's a ton of springs you could put back in it to take care of the height issue. Not a whole suspension, in most cases the springs are the only thing that control the ride height of the car. Expect to pay around $150-$200 for the springs.

BTW where the hell do you live that vehicle height (lower) is illegal?

Discs in the rear are a nice touch, but by no means necessary. I'd say 90% of the cars here have drums on the back and it's no safety issue.

Well, he really wants to get rid of it. He can't quite afford it anymore, and well.. I really don't want him to part with it, but if he is.. I would more than gladly take it off his hands..

I'm not sure what the current braking system of a mustang 88'gt.. i dont think his is stock.. is it disc in the back, and drums in the front in stock form? I'm thinking I might make it 4 wheel disc brakes..

And the car supposedly was lowered too much.. cars can be lowered around here, just to a certain point I think then it becomes a safety concern... as cops enjoy pulling over stangs..

I know a guy who drives a '01 GT and a cop pulled him over to inspect the car and well he decided to pull the whole "my tax pays your salary routine" and lets just say hes not driving his car anymore temporarily. lol.

the brakes thing is BS, the car came with discs in the front and drums in the back.

There are no 88+ with discs in back and drums up front and I'll bet you if you run a carfax on that badboy you'll find it has had the odometer roll over at least once if not more.
