i just bout a 93 lx hatch bacl w/ a 2.3 n/a but it has a 5 speed tranny

i have a spare 88tc motor in the garage...

ok the new question ...my buddy works at ford now.

how easy would it be just to put the motor in and use a original 2.3t harness made for the 88tc ? would'nt it be alot easier than splicing and stuff ?

has anyone ever done this w/ their swap , is there anything that you still have to splice ? and can you use the computer from an auto car on a 5 speed car ?

It's not a new idea...I guess it's new for this week though.

If it was easier everyone would do it...obviously that's not the case.

You can use an auto computer with a 5 speed.

What does your Ford buddy have to do with anything?

I think the Timing curves are better on a 5spd EEC off a 2.3t car. I think I would try and do the standard EEC since more people use this and more information is out there for wiring one. Its been to long since I thought about droping in a 2.3T in my 93' LX but as I recall it wasn't that bad at all. I think GT350 has some wiring diagrams for them, if not Stinger does I'm sure.

Wiring is the same for both computers...auto has slightly more aggressive timing curves from viewing them with my tuner...

Once you've pulled an '87 or '88 wiring harness out of a T-Bird, you'll understand why people just repin the Mustang harness. '83-'86 is a different story.

I used an '88 harness for my '78 Mustang, but I took a week with it spread out in my front yard to remove wiring that wasn't needed. The whole harness weighs at least 50lb and was spread literally 20ft wide and 30ft long. Once you remove the ABS, Ride Control, Climate control, and other nonsense from the wiring harness, it's a "little" easier to manage.
