ok..now i am having trouble with decision

i was gonna get the cobra killer kit, but i am having second thoughts, and am now considering the kenne bell 6 psi kit. the 9 psi intercooled is out of my price range, but the 6 psi is about the same as the cobra killer kit. it is for my 99gt auto, that is my everyday driver, and sees a little bit of track each year. my goal is mid to high 12's, with DR's. the car now has no mods.

which kit will be better for my everyday driver? will the 6psi kit get me into the 12's with dr's and a little suspension work?

I'd also be interested in the 6lb kit if I were you. It is a nice option and makes comparable power with just 6PSI of boost so I imagine its very safe. How much is the 6PSI kit anyhow?

KB's price list has it for 3800$. i am not sure if it can be bought for cheaper. anyone?

3800 is the price on it but some guys are only seeing 330-340 rwhp with that kit ....dont know why ... talk to tim about it . I think he can probably get you more HP out of one of the cobra killer kits , personal advice is go with the 9 lbs KB or cobra killer kit

with the KB, how good is the supplied tune? i don't mind getting custon retune, but i will have to wait a little while after.

Pretty good from what I've read. The 6PSI doesnt offer outrageous power, but a vast gain over stock. The best thing it offers is that its got to be very safe relative to pushing ~400rwhp. For those that cant really afford a rebuild, its not a bad option.
Is the 6PSI upgradable to the 9PSI by just buying extra compnents (pulley, intercooler etc.) or is it actually a different blower altogether.

You need around 284 rwhp to get into the twelves with the stang. Depends on the total weight when running. Here's the formula.

if you get the cobra killer kit with the novi 2000, you should be at 390 at the wheels with an otherwise stock car (wot on this board has that kit)

also something to keep inmind.. modularfordpowerhouse has not yet lost a motor.. the steda tune is amazing

The 6 psi kit offers 100 hp over your starting point. If your at 225 stock, you'll end up around 325 roughly depending on the tune.

To upgrade to 9 psi, you buy the intercooler, pulley, and new tune.

325 rwhp with all that torque down low would make the stang totally different. Like it should have been from the factory. And with a little practice, 12's at the track.

If I wanted to go with a centri blower, the Novi 2000 would be it. Plenty of room to grow, but most of my driving is under 3000 rpm where I want torque.

In my opinion, for the money, you cant beat the CobraKiller kits( with the Novi or Vortech) If I were going to do the KB for sure, Id save my pennies as long as it took to get the 9lb kit. Buying a supercharger isnt something to rush into. You have to decide what the car will be used for, and if you really want to spend the 4- 5 grand it takes to get a blower car running. (correctly that is.) If you get the 6 psi kit, you pretty much stuck there without buying the I/C and pulley. The Novi kit will make more power, but it will all be up higher in the powerband. Good luck

You can run 7psi if your willing to make sure you keep the octane around 93-94. Also depends on the timing in the tune.

If I was going put on a blower for the dragstrip, the Novi 2000 would be it.

For the street, I think roots are better for the daily driver. There is a reason they are used on production cars. I think the boost chart from KB at different rpm's is interesting.

I'm also leaning toward the 6psi KB. Believe it or not, I'm actually content with having "only" 330-340rwhp. I've already accepted the fact my car will never be a drag strip king; since I never take it to to the track anyway. I just want it to be quick on the street. And the added low tq from the KB seems to fit my need the most.

I agree. 330 real hp is still going to be damn quick, especially with your 4:10's.

KB tune is pretty conservative with timing and A/F. How do you know it's the tune or just normal wear, overreving, or just bad gas and detonation?

I've read more then a few posts on people running Prochargers and Vortechs losing an engine. Guy in our mustang club had a 9psi Procharger making 385 rwhp and threw a rod out out side of the block about a week after installing and tuning it. Put a new engine in with a tune for 346 or so and then traded the car on a vette.
