I just put on new cobra calipers, slotted rotors, ss lines, then im doing 13" rear baer kit (rotors only), stock GT calipers.

Now I messed up my stock GT master clyinder. So i need some opinions here. I should spend an extra $30 for the cobra vs the GT.

I decided im going to buy new not a re-manufactured one, I found a place for $90 for the GT and $120 for the Cobra. By the way there Rebestos or how ever u spell that lol, they any good? At least there made in North America.

Which should I go for? I see some ppl seem to like the 'firm' pedal the GT gives you but since I need a new one anyways what route would you go?

Does the cobra bolt up just the same, wouldnt need to do any modifiying? I need new lines from the MC to the proportioning valve (little distrabution block just below it) I heard somthing about reverse threads on the Cobra but would they still bolt up to the proportioning valve just fine, just backwards threads?

Thanks in advance!

I bought a baer M/C with I did the 13 inch rotors on the front. It was real easy to install. I don't really know if it did anything since most of my braking system was new. I pick the M/C up for about 130-140, can't remenber. The only thing different was the two lines that come off the M/C. Those are just switched. They were suppose to come with the M/C but they forgot to put them in there. I just had to make my own.

when i did my cobra brakes and left the stock M/C the brakes locked up instantly, after the cobra (reman by the way for $40.00 at AZ) M/C my brakes are amazing, just go ahead and do the cobra IMHO oh yeah you will need cobra lines also, they are the same size just switched around, i had SS braided ones made and looks better than the stock bent lines for $30.00 at g&j aircraft in ontario CA. if you need to call them.

All i want to know is will it still screw into my proportioning valve (little distrabution block just below the MC) with the diffrent lines? Whats the deal with the diffrent lines...reveresed threads or are the lines just on the opposite sides? Someone please explain this.

You'll be happy with the GT master cylinder. With SS lines, the pedal feel is firmer, but nothing harsh.

I borrowed a 2003 Mach 1 for a few months and the pedal feel is identical to mine. If you've driven a Mach 1 (or 94+ cobra), one of the first things you notice is how good the brakes are compared to our GTs.

Ontario? Damn, I'm in West LA near the 405 & 10 freeways. We oughta have a SoCal StangNet meet one of these days. Mind PM'ing me the details on the braided lines? Length, connectors, etc? I'm doing the Cobra MC swap soon, and I'd really appreciate the info. :nice:
