This is an oklahoma mustang club in which I have been a member of for almost a year. Everything was all cool til I got in an argument with a few people and they have since treated me like crap. Anyway they all hate II's and I'm the only II on there. And they seem to think the everyone besides me hates them too. So if you'd like I welcome you to join deadhorse mustangs www.okdhm.com Especially you owners of modded and wickedly fast II's. :D

Sorry to hear that, what was the argument about? My club here in Utah was thrilled to FINALLY have a II owner as a member, they gushed all about the II's and how they needed more of them in the club. They call me and ask if I will come to shows...You might point out to them that the latest Mustang Monthly has a 40th history of stangs and the II is mentioned while the 71-73 is left out totally!! The worst stang is by far the 79-83's they didnt even have the 302's. Did you also know our II's were the #4 all time best seller of all mustangs? So, If I were you I would write to the pres. of the club, and let em have it. or withdraw and join a neighboring states club or MCA.

Let me guess, bunch of idiots with modified late model cars or bone stock early cars whining about how the II was a POS because of it's performance

Like we all keep them as-produced. They're missing the point entirely. Old hat for lots of us.

We're not even considering performance... Most of us are turned off by its appearance.

Sir, we are far from idiots. The members of Deadhorse range from owning early and late model cars, stock to modified. The reason why she came over here is because she is not welcomed by a few of the members on the forum for some comments she had made regarding her political views and her reasons behind them.

Some of the members' views of not liking the looks of the Mustang II is beside the point...I cant see the reasoning of coming onto this board and complaining about some people who dont like the looks of the Mustang II, but to each their own.

So, how about 71-73 Grandes? Or '79-81 Ghias? Not what I would call any better, but I surely would not bust on somebody that owned one. We all make the choice of particular vehicle for a myriad of different reasons, but the common thread is that we like what we have, or we wouldn't be on forums, or in clubs.

Why are you even in the II forum, anyway? I realize that you have the "right" to be here, but I have already gathered that you will have little positive to add to the discussions in this room, and we don't need any more flame wars.

Believe it or not, the exterior styling is what initially drew me to mine (way back in Jan '80). Looks as good to me today as it did then.

Not welcomed on which forum?

And what do her political views have to do with criticizing her choice of car? Seems they made it the point?

I don't know...I generally don't delve into the cesspool of the not-auto-related forums on this site, so I guess I have missed something (or nothing?).

So, if I understand correctly, DHM is receptive to ALL Mustangs? Even IIs? Even lowriders? Even John Deere diesel-powered '67 coupes? (don't laugh, I've seen it...Iowa, mid 1980s)

As I'm sure you can tell by my initial post, my experience with Mustang clubs was not a good one. If your club is different, I applaud you.

Sir?...isn't that reserved for law enforcement after "spirited" driving?;)

I wont bring the business of what happened from Deadhorse onto other forums, but if you do decide to join DH, I am sure someone can fill you in on what happened. You do have to register to view the forums...The DH forums are basically run like any other place, the tech sections and the normal BS section...

Well I joined the deadhorse forum and all I can say is thank god for stangnet and the people in the II forum! Seriously, I've never read such childish gibberish that was totally unhelpful to the hobby of Mustangs or any other car for that matter. I'd like to thank all of the people that have replied to my questions in the past with knowledgeable and polite answers. You guys rock and have helped me tremendously.

As for the deal with fastmustangii/stangobsession/Megan... stop posting threads on "least favorite Mustang", "worst Mustang", "favorite Mustang", etc. Don't turn your choice of driving a Mustang II into a popularity contest. Don't expect everybody to love your car. This isn't high school and you don't have to convince everyone else that you're the best. Life is about being happy and not making others miserable while you're at it. Once you understand that, you'll realize these types of threads aren't helpful to anyone.

Actually, it was a simple thread asking what your least favorite mustang was. And so far most have disliked the II. And for that she told all II haters they were going to hell. :nonono:

But regardless everyone is entitlted to their opinion. I am sure not everyone likes the 87-93 fox bodies as i do and i don't hate them for it or condemn them to hell :notnice:

And if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. ;)

I read the thread... and yes fastmustangii/stangobsession/Megan said some pretty stupid stuff which I think she thought was funny but wasn't funny at all.

However, there were a high percentage of replies in the threads I perused which were stupid and off the wall. There was one guy on there that never posted a single response that made any sense to me. He appeared to be trying to make some kind of clandestine joke or statement. Anyway I would not recommend that others waste there time joining that forum.

Thats the one thing about our club/board is we are a close group of buddies. We know each other and hang out regularly. So there is a familiarity amoungst our members. Where as on stangnet its not so friendly.

I come here when I need technical support. But I enjoy posting and hanging w/my friends and for that we have our board. Which its allowed to have off topics.

But thanks for visiting! :)

Because it came to my attention that she was "talking trash about our club" (that is how it was said when I heard). I wanted to set the record straight and let everyone know why most of us dislike the Mustang II - it isn't because of performance and it wasn't personal until Megan took it in that direction.

But I completely understand "different strokes for different folks." We're not here to bash your car, believe it or not.

I didn't come here to start a flame war and I don't know how you got that from my original post?

You dislike the car because you dislike the car and I don't have any problem with that. There will always be those who will dislike *your* car and I hope you will show them the same grace many of us II owners do.

As for the flame wars, I wouldn't condone or engage in that sort of behavior. I challenge others within the II forum to do the same as well. You guys have the right to say what you like and if you enjoy reading non-sensical posts then more power to you.

I'm glad that you seem open-minded.

I did not mean to give the impression that your intent was to start a flame war, just point out that posts in this forum that are not II related, (either technical in nature or general info) tend to generate that type of response rather quickly. We're a sensitive lot, ya know. Probably from years of being ragged on for our choice in cars. :D

I didn't join DHM, so I haven't read the posts and can't say for sure, but if she asked for opinions, she got what was deserved, like it or not. Sounds to me like we have a poster that is still in the infancy of II ownership, and has not yet developed the thick skin neccessary to own one in a world full of people that do not value it (even hate it, for whatever reason).

In reference to my earlier statement: At least the DHM members posting to this thread aren't idiots. For that my hat's off to you folks. Maybe the tide of Mustang clubs is turning? Still never got a yes or no about whether ALL stangs are welcome, though.

All Mustangs are welcomed by Deadhorse. As FastmanGT said, we have several members who drive Lightnings, F-Bodies, and even Hondas. And, yes, we do pick on them but it's all in good fun, for the most part.

My boyfriend is an active member of Deadhorse and he drives a Firebird... but don't tell anyone. :D

I said "they're going to hell" as a joke if you had read the post by i think the sn is 79sleepercoupe he said all people who hated 79 mustangs were going to hell. His remark didn't gain any attention.
