My Ma used to have a burgandy 65 Coupe, and on it she had some unique aftermarket taillights.. I havent seen much for different designs except for the Shelby ones. Does anybody know of any options for this back in the 60's, or maybe early 70's?.. Thats when she had it I believe. They were already on it when she bought it used from some guy.

She has some pics of it but cant find them at the moment. She's mentioned them often though and my brother and I were asking her about them this past weekend.. she drew a little sketch for us of what they looked like and described them.. They were chrome frames surrounding a few 3/4-1" tall horizontal lenses with small chrome strips between each. They were pretty wide apparently, going from the outermost edge of where the stock lights would be and into a few inches from the gas cap.. I photoshoped a coupe pic I found on Ebay to show what she was getting at.. but I'm not sure if this is the right amount of lenses or what.. probably anywhere from 4 to 6... I need to show her and see if its right.

So, has anybody heard of such an animal?.. Any ideas where a person could get some of these again?.. not really sure if I would want them but I'm curious.

Here's my mockup:

I had a 65 Mustang in 1966 , you could order the tailights you are talking about from J.c.whitney, they also sold tailights that looked like the Cougars tails lights that was on a 68 Hope this helps

you can still find some on ebay from time to time. usually from cars that the orginal owner put on, and over time the stayed on untill someone restores it.

Those are some wicked sweet taillights... I need to come up with something like that for customization of my '69 coupe, cuz i dont want to be like every average joe out there with one, i want mine to be different, but not to the point of riceboy ultimate supremacy...

i think those would look sweet with the pop-open gas cap from a 70 and a chrome or polished stainless piece fabbed up to take up the space between the lights and the cap
