On the bright side...I'm alive

Well, I got into a rather bad accident this morning. I was coming off the highway (roads were also wet) when someone clipped the back end of my car. I didn't even feel the clip so I'm guessing he just kinda pushed me over and my tires broke loose. There was no damage or anything on the part where he made contact.

Well, I found my self going into oncoming traffic rather quickly and tried to correct but it was wayyy too late and the wet road didn't help at all. I ended up going up and over the curb at about 40-45 mph and missed a pole by about 1 foot. I also missed another by 4 feet or so. I ended up missing a tree by about 4 feet too. I went right between the poles. There was a bridge ices before road sign in the middle and I mowed that thing in half.

The car ended up going down the bank (which was at a really steep angle) and smacked the ground (along with a ton of small trees) going at least 35-40 miles an hour. Somehow I got out with only two red marks on my right wrist. Nothing major happened to me somehow. The cops and a few other people said I was REALLY lucky to be alive after that.

And the car...well...I think it's gonna end up being totaled out. Once they backed the car out the trees I was able to lift the hood (after taking the big arse branch out the radiator). I didn't see any kind of damage to the engine and nothing was leaking out except the radiator fluid. I was also able to shift the tranny through the gears so I believe that's good, too. All my gauges and everything were fine and my exhaust system looked like it was in halfway decent shape. Fuel pump still worked, etc. So I should be able to salvage most of that car.

Thankfully nothing happened to me...and that's all that matters. But seeing my cobra come up looking like that really made me sick. All the time I put in that thing just kinda went away, haha.

Btw, it was a hit and run...the guy just kept on going as far as I know.

Btw, just give me some time...I'll have another stang....might be a while though

:( damn, man I'm really sorry to hear this but I'm glad you're ok because that's what really matters. I know how it feels to total a car you love. Been there, done that. Best of luck to you with everything.

Tough break man, I really feel for you. Hopefully insurance will come through for ya. So what are ya thinking? Buying it back and parting it out? Just taking what they give ya and buying a beater? Good luck man.

my deepest respects.. good thing you walked away.. I know how it feels to hurt the car.. luckly for me the car got another lease on life (the insurance company actually gave the collision shop a rough time because the car ended up costing quite a bit over budget and should have been totalled according to them) What it comes down to though is that you're ok, I say buy the car back and salvage the parts, drop them into a nice clean stocker or v6, and pick up where you left off :)

Clay, I'm really sorry to hear about this! Like you said, it could have been so much worse (you being hurt seriously) and the car still would have been jacked.

Best of luck with getting it all squared up.

Thanks guys. I'm just gonna get the car back and pull my engine, trans, gauges, fuel pump, etc out of it. I think if I can find a decently priced chassis I should be able to swap most of this stuff in there with no problem.

But, that might be a lil while from now...I'll just have to see how the insurance thing goes.

What really hurts is I just got my nitrous system in 3 days ago and haven't even had the chance to hook it up :(

that's life though

Thanks again everyone

If we had snow these charleston drivers would all be in the ocean/rivers. No joke. One drop of water on the road and people can't drive.

I'm sorta looking around for a roller right now. I think I'm gonna hold off on it for a couple months though
