I hate to say anything negative and I might not be the first to say this but I HATE where ford put the 12volt power outlet in the very center of the dash, right where you have to put CD's in the deck, I say that's going to have to change next year!!

Hey, some of us think that outlet placement is perfect for radar detectors...

not that I use one, of course, that'd be highly irresponsible...

I didn't put any words in the man's mouth, I made a comparison to another thing that people like to complain about. I'm tired of reading posts putting down the new Mustang for small little unimportant reasons.

If you don't like the new Mustang for one reason or another then don't post here...

I like it when someone doesn't like the 2005 Mustang.

If a lot of people refuse to buy 2005 Stangs because of the power outlet position, it means that it will be that much sooner that dealers will have to sell them under invoice (instead of marking them up over MSRP) and Ford will have to add on rebates so I'll be able to get my '05 Stang real cheap.

That's BS, if you are a fan-boy then don't post here. Some people can't take any criticism of the new Mustang, no matter how well deserved it is. And for the record, yes, 300 hp IS underpowered, perhaps not when compared to the anemic Mustangs that have been produced since the mid-90's, but compared to the rest of the industry. I'm sick of the "bang for buck" argument because it ain't there anymore.

Fanboy I am not, I love the o5' Stang, yet there are plenty of things I don't like about it; the wheel/tire combos Ford choose stink (18's are needed to properly fill the wheelwells) a 6-speed manual optional would have been nice, I dont like the gauges, they are set too deep in the dash and are hard to read to begin with, the rear wing looks crappy and tacked on as with most 94-04 Stangs. 300hp is fine, but more power would have been welcome, not to mention the exposed mufflers...

I just don't see the point of making a thread pointing out a tiny little flaw that most people will never notice, much less care about.

Bang for the buck factor gone you say? 300hp for 24,995, with lots of amenities coming standard..."Well what about dealer mark up?"-you say, wait a month or two dealer mark ups will be gone. Wait another 3-4 months and expect factory rebates, and dealers willing to bargain below msrp. Not to mention people that can take advantage of X-plan and A-plan pricing...

Yeah I sat in the new Mustang yesterday and noticed the cigarette lighter placement and thought the same thing. I like the placement on the older ones by the shifter; it puts a cell phone cord out of the way.....but other than that, side mirrors, and wheels, it was very nice.

How so? The overall diamter of the 18" tires are the same as both the 16" and 17" tires.

i've seen quite a few 05 mustangs this weekend, the cigarette lighter placement didnt bother me. The ONLY thing that did is on the option V6 rim, the spinner seems to just pop off. Is there anyway to secure it better?

I know that, but the 17's seem too small. 18's just look much better.

Alright, I am going to point out something that is new and is positive in the 05. I dont think I have heard anybody mention it, but I love that the gas cap is on the driver side now. Kinda nice to just step out of your car and the gas cap is only a couple of feet away. Also the seat forward latch at the top of the seat is pure genius. Put it this way, do not try to fit two kegs of beer in the backseat of your 97 Mustang. I lost the levers on both sides. They are both back on but are badly warped. . Its good to have them out of the way of your buddies feet also.

Yes! You can also pull the seat forward with ONE HAND rather than having to pull the lever with the right hand while pushing the seat forward with your left hand or shoulder. Good call. Maybe there is a long term owner on the design team for the seats.
