I am seriously considering buying a 1978 camaro.I realize this is a Ford Forum, but i figured i would get the most help here! The guy i am buying it from has all the necessary a/c componants, just not installed. My question is How hard would it be for a person with NO expierince with this at all to put in the A/C because i am burning my ass off in houston. also, would i have to convert the a/c to 134a?
ANY links or suggestions dealing with this would be greatly appreciated.
THANK YOU MUCHOS!

First, you need to slapped silly for even buying that turd, it probably has that lame duck 305 motor. No experience, I wouldn't tackle an A.C. system, you need the proper charging gauges, etc, not to mention it's probably illegal if you let some of the gases into the atmosphere, then if you don't balance the low and high pressure side, poof, there goes your investment in the A.C. parts.

If you have all the parts and pieces I live in Houston and have the guages and vacuum pump to help you get it going but I would convert it to 134a since YOU cannot buy R12 and I have only a limited supply.

What car do you have now besides a POS Camaro you might buy? Why can't you just put AC in it? There are tons of kits available for Mustangs these days and you could get one for less than a different car.
