any two-door american v8 is fine by me, don't get me wrong, i love Ford, but i like fast cars in general

maybe it's because this was my first car :D

Haha. I was just being an ass. I'm good with anything that's fast. It just bothers me when ignorant Ford owners bash on GM products so much when they are in fact superior in many ways. I used to be a Ford hater by up-bringing. Although I have always loved fox body and '65-'69 Mustangs and pretty much any pre-1980 truck. I am now just a Ford hater by experience because I own one. I still love it though. If that makes sense.

Umm...kinda, haha. I know a lot of non-Ford cars are faster than mine, doesn't bother me though, it's my car and I think it's great. I don't know about GM cars being superior in many ways compared to Ford cars though. I know it's easy to pick out the things wrong with your car compared with others, like mechanical problems and less horsepower. So yeah I kinda get what you're saying.
 
Any car is fine by me if done up in taste. I live pre 78 and post 93 GM's, post 79 fords, and a variety of Mopar's. I like 4cyl's, 6cyl's, V8's, turbo'd, N/A cars, sc'd cars. I love cars. Sure I could do without the a-hole with a fart can and a big wing on a import but I can also respect that there are some 350+whp all motor 4cyl Honda's out there and that is impressive.

if you dont know about them being superior, try to watch a race between a stock 2008 GT and a stock 98-02 camaro ss sometime. :nice::nice::nice:

Yeah, 5.7 with "320HP" vs. a 4.6 with 300HP, and that "320HP" is way underrated. I'm all for American cars, but I will never like Chevy. Do you also belong to a Camaro forum or something? And let's see...How about an '03-'04 Cobra vs. a '98-'02 SS?...no contest, the Cobra would blow it's doors off.

For anyone to sit back and not credit GM with what they did right with the 97-02 LS1 cars dont have a right to call themselves a enthusiest. Respect swings both ways. In the middle of a time when imports are taking over the auto industry you would think that American fans would try to stick together a little more.

I'm sure this is going to start a pissing match, but I think you're a little off in your average estimates. Picking the best of the F-Body times, vs. the worst of the Cobra's is hardly a fair comparison. :rolleyes:

Yeah, there's the odd F-Body that will dip into the high-12's in stock trim, but your average car is running low-13's.

On the other hand, your average Cobra is running high-12's (13.0's with a piss poor driver) and I've seen/heard of really quick stockers run 12.3-12.5's on regular occasions. Hell....Evan Smith ran consistent 12.5's on stock radials in an '03 Cobra Convertible. :shrug:

That 2-tenths you estimated is actually closer to about half a second plus.....which is a huge difference at that speed. More than enough to not only declare a solid victory, but essentially "spank" the F-Body, or even their flagship Corvette.

The only car GM was putting out at the time that could solidly best a Cobra was the Z06.....and even then it was only by a tenth or two.
 
Ok, sorry, I don't want to cause any problems or derail the thread. To the OP, the saying is referring to the Chevrolet symbol, which is called a bowtie, and that only little boys wear (drive) bowties because they can't handle Fords, Mopars, etc.

either way ide rather pay 15 grand for a clean SS that i could stroke and or put a turbo or s/c on and make all kinds of power than pay 25 for a turd s197 that has a puny 4.6 that will only make power with boost.

threads like this make me want to take my fox and put an cammed ls1 in it... just so i can win money on the street from retard mustang owners who think that a 03 cobra is some kind of golden gift cast down from the heavens...
 
my camaro ate cobras for lunch and crapped what was left out the tail pipes. termi owners are as bas if not worse than vette owners in that they think their **** dont stink.

I've had a second gen f body and a fourth gen both had their ups and downs.
I am building my second fox right now as I like the shoe box feel that they have and I dont see that many of them anymore.
the most reliable of the three cars was hands down the LS1 car, but it had engineering advances made at the factory that the other two cars couldnt hope to touch. why hate because it's not ford?? I dunno, some people are just too narrow minded to see past whats in their face.

come to think of it all three cars had one HUGE thing in common. They were always up on jackstands.

And listen to yourself. You just bitched about 4.6L's being turds because they were useless without a power adder to be fast, yet you immediate stated afterwards your desire to build a stroker LS1 or add a power adder to it to make any "real power". :scratch:

I really don’t see why some of you haters just can’t stand the fact that most of us prefer the little supercharged 281ci to the all mighty LS1? You honestly see us as foolish for thinking as much? I know if I had the money and the choice between the two cars (F-Body vs ’03-’04 Cobra), it would be a no brainer. The Cobra wins in all categories across the board. :shrug:
