Only thing in the car is the dash, heater core time?

My car has been in the paint shop for a year (being painted by a friend(s)) and the only thing in my car is the dash. I was thinking that maybe I should go ahead and replace my heater core, especially since it's been sitting so long. Or "if it ain't broke don't fix it" ? suggestions/opinions?

I'd replace it now while it is easy. A heater core is only like $20.00.

Definatley replace it while its easy to get to. Just make sure to get a Ford core, not a parts store heater core.

I just installed a parts store heater core. Will I be experiencing problems anytime soon?

Not nesicarley (sp) but the ford one lasted 14-15 years. I work at a parts store, and I've seen heater cores come back leaking in a month. Doesnt mean yours will leak, but when/ if I do mine it will be from Ford.

I might take my dash out anyway to clean it. I have read many threads on the parts store heater cores verses Ford's. I'll be getting Ford's. I have so much cleaning to do but my car is all most ready to come back home!
