is anyone in socal running their cobra/mustang at open track/auto-x events? i've been running my modded cobra with the porsche club, driving concepts, and speed ventures and i almost never see another stang. i'd like to meet some people with some track time under their belt to talk mods, compare track notes, learn more about my car's performance , and learn more about driving techniques best suited to it.

thanks,

jp

Check out N.A.S.A. (National Auto Sports Assoc.). There is the Camaro Mustang Chalange (not alot of Mods in this class), American Iron, American Iron Extream. Both AI and AIX run tons of mods. Lots of friendly people. We just ran at Willow Springs this week end and don't race again until Sept. at Button Willow (mid season break, to hot). I have some pictures at
http://homepage.mac.com/jpaikos/PhotoAlbum10.html
I just looked at the pictures I posted in the Photo Album and there is not alot of Mustangs but trust me, American Iron / Extream is dominated by late model mustangs.

If you couldn't tell, my budy runs the blue '71 Camaro.

HI

I ALSO RUN WITH NASA IN THERE HPDE 3 GROUP. I HAVE 2001 MINERAL GREY SUPERCHARGED GT.

I DROVE UP TO WATCH ON JULY 10TH JUST TOO HOT FOR MY CAR IT TENDS TO RUN HOT IN 100 + WEATHER SO I'LL JUST WAIT UNTIL BUTTONWILLOW IN OCTOBER.

MY BEST TIME AT WILLOW WAS WHEN I RAN WITH NASA IN MAY FOR TWO DAYS I RAN A TIME OF 141.00. BUT MY GOAL IS TO GET INTO THE 139.00 RANGE.

I ALSO RUN WITH SPEED VENTURES RAN WITH THEM ON JUNE 4TH AT WILLOW HAD A BLAST. NO SUPERCHARGER IN JUNE THIS TIME IT GRENADED THE LAST RUN IN MAY WITH NASA SO IN JUNE I WAS RUNING WITH A SUPERCHARGER TUNE VERY RICH AND DID A 144.00

I ALSO DO A LOT OF AUTO-X WITH SOLO II AT CA SPEEDWAY.

ITS A BLAST AND I MUST SAY I'M HOOKED I PLAN ON DOING THIS AS LONG AS MYSELF AND MY CAR HOLD UP.

NEXT TIME GUYS LOOKS FOR ME AT OPENTRACK RACING, SPEED VENTURES, NASA EVENTS, MY CAR NUMBER IS 944.

HAPPY RACING AND ALWAYS BE SAFE

I run my supercharged 97 Cobra at open track events at Thunderhill about once a month. Get a little faster each time. Last out on July 16 with "Northern California Racing Club" (http://ncracing.org)
Did their time trial and placed 4th overall with a 2:12 for the full course with cyclone. I still drive my car to the track (an hour from my home)...besides the supercharger (Vortech 9psi), it has slightly upgraded brakes and suspension. I'm also running 275 Kumho Victorracers which make a big difference. Photos of my car at that event are at:
http://gotbluemilk.com/040716/37/

I only see a few Mustangs at the track, except when I run with the Shelby Club (http://norcal-saac.org/) or with "Green Flag" (http://www.greenflagdriving.com/). Events with those clubs are dominated by Mustangs and other Ford power.

Upcomming events at Thunderhill can be seen at:
http://www.thunderhill.com/calendar.html
In case you don't know, Thunderhill is a 3-mile, 15-turn track a little over an hour north of Sacramento.

An upcoming event of interest at Thunderhill is the TracQuest open track at the end of August. The club charges a lot, but you get what you pay for. See:
