In about 2 weeks I'm going to be ordering a CAI for my 06 GT and have decided to go with the Demolet Tunable Induction kit. I would like to have some input on the system itself. Any problems with it, likes and dislikes, whatever you can bring to the table.

I bought a used Xcal 1 from a SCT tuner that has been erased and unlocked in hopes that it can be used on my car. I talked to John at Demolet and he said the files could be written to the Xcal 1. I asked him how much it would cost me since I wouldn't be buying a tuner from him and he said " If you buy my system I'll upload the custom tunes for free". What a cool thing to do. He has got to be the nicest guy I have ever talked too. He stayed on the phone with me for about 20 min. and never acted like he had to run off or was in a rush. Now that's what I call customer service and I haven't even bought anything yet. So far My opinion is very positive about this company and as soon as I get the system with the tunes I'll give my final verdict.

Turboscrew, check out pages 1-4 on the Does Anyone Have Any Input On This CAI (thread), it covers a great deal of info. concerning the Demolet Tunable Induction CAI.. Hope you find it helpful and useful.. :D

I have a Tunable Induction CAI. I like the product, works well. I have only one negative thing. I have noticed on mine and 1 other 06 GT with same CAI. The top portion on the filter rubs against the hood liner. I am going to have to trim the heat shield so the filter sits lower. I am a little disappointed but, the product works as advertised. Just check your fitment.

A word of caution Firestang...just make certain, that you don't trim off too much from you're heat shield, otherwise you're intake tube is going to end up resting on top of the radiator hose.. I'd much rather put up with the filter rubbing against the head liner, than the intake tube, resting on top of a hot radiator hose, maybe you just need to re-check you're adjustments, like looking at you're elbow coupler, make sure it isn't placed too far into the throttle body, otherwise that may raise both the shield and filter, just high enough to cause you're filter, to rub against you're hood liner...Anyway give that a shot, and see if that helps.. If it doesn't, then I would suggest you contact John Demolet, and seek his recommendation and advice...:nice:

Thanks I've tried adjusting several times w/o success. The same thing on my buddys 06 GT. Thanks for the tip, the clearance is tight, the outer trim on the shield rests on the hose, there is no evidence of damage. i am going to dremel that small section out some and put the trim back on. With it rubbing the headliner that is debris that can get in my filter and beyond. DeMolet if your reading this, any suggestions?

What you really need to be concerned is, you're intake tube resting on top of the radiator hose, that's why I tried to advice you, about making sure that you're real careful when you trim down you're shield, otherwise you're going to end up causing damage to you're intake tube, if its resting on top of that very hot radiator hose, the heat from the hose will end up deforming the plastic tubing, or even worse..it could eventually melt a nice hole in it as well..If I were you..I would contact John Demolet directly, tell him what you're concerns are, and ask him for his advice, before you do anything to the heat shield..here's his phone number 1-866-509-7453 Anyway, good luck and hope this help you out.. :D

red there is at least 8 inches from the bottom of the shield to the bottom of the tube. There is a plastic/rubber trim that goes along the edge of the shield. There has been no melting or warping of that material that is directly sitting on the rad hose. The tube is no where near the rad hose. I will call him anyway and ask. I'll post his reply. Thanks for looking out for a fellow stanger.:nice:

Yes Fire, I'm well aware of the rubber trim that goes along the edge of the shield, However the point I was trying to make is.. Once you lower the shield, by trimming it down..Your also going to lower you're intake tube, as well, and my concern is, if you lower the shield too much..You may also end up lowering the intake tube too much, to the point where either the intake tube will become extremely too close to the radiator hose, or will end up sitting right on top of it, as a result.. And yes, you're right... I'm giving my advice because of the fact, that you are a fellow stanger and that I'm also looking out for you..However, I'll be the first to admit that I'm far from being a technical expert, and I could very well be completly wrong, which is why, I also recommend that you contact John DeMolet, just to be on the safe side.. Wish there were more I could do to help, but I'am afraid that all I can offer, is provide an honest and straight forward opinion..So anyway, be sure that you call John, and yes.. post his reply, I'll be looking very forward to his recommendation, as well... So in the meantime, take care..:SNSign:

Sorry to take so long to reply, I just now saw the thread.

Is was simply a matter of 'lesser evils' designing the system within the fitment constraints of the radiator hose and hood blanket. If I'd gone with a larger diameter filter it would have dropped the TB pipe down onto the radiator hose, and I did want the upper shield molding to seat into the hood blanket just enough to block heat coming up over the shield. And we saw just how important good shielding was in the shootout testing.

Plus if you notice how close the resevoir cap is to the TB pipe you'll see just how little space there is to work with.

The bottom line is you absolutely can't have the TB pipe on the radiator hose and the hood blanket isn't going to adversly affect the filter. It's only about the first 1" of the filter that comes into contact with the blanket and only in that one spot.

A full non heat conducting shield and not touching the radiator hose were the most important concerns. Plus all filters are going to get dirty and simply cleaning the filter periodically will take care of any dirt buildup.

Current 05/06 GT system stats:

-Systems returned: NONE
-Tune issues : 1 GT, 91 tune, corrected.
-System production quality control: 1 shield mounting tab, broken in shipping transit, all shields then updated with black anodized mounting bracket. No further problems related in all previous systems in service. 1 defective rubber meter gasket, all gaskets updated to a thicker better gasket, no problems reported with other systsm in service. SCT Xcal2: NO issues.

-Performance stats: highest gains (superchip tuner @ +28), MD saw +27 last week. Doug @ BAMA CHIPS will have the GT systems ready soon.

-System updates: I now have the systems in 2 distinct styles: 'Stealth' series: std. carbon fiber, & 'Signature' series: custom 2-stage factory paint (both sides of the poly shield painted, and we'll mix and match the separate components with the factory paint) '96-06 GT & V6 painted systems page' on site.
- There is a national shortage of carbon fiber due to the military. I've stocked up, but if interested in the 'Stealth' CF system now might be a good time to order. Support this forum with all the systems available through 'partshopper'.

I really appreciate all the support!

do you have additional tunes, besides the 87 & 93 octane? i dont have 93 available local, only 87, 89, 91, or 100 racing fuel.

Thanks for the info John. My buddy was your issue with the gasket and the silicone bead did the trick. He trimmed the hood blanket and now no issues.

I really appreciate all the support!

Anyway to just leave the ricey carbon fiber off the tube? (don't really care to have it painted either)

i assume you quoted demolet because of the 91 tune problem in the first paragraph. for some reason i overlooked it. partshopper said "choice of custom 87 or 93 octane tunes already preloaded," thats why i asked. obviously a 91 tune is available.....:bang:

i also went back and reviewed an old PM from demolet......

I now have the 87, 91, & 93 SCT tunes in the ll3 enduser adjustability enabled format, along with the IMRC delete tune if needed. You can do the catback and pulley mods without having to change these tunes.

The new paint options are new choices over the carbon fiber.

As far as 'Ricer', I've yet to see a foreign car system in real carbon fiber. Most are chrome. The FR500 carbon fiber intake gave me the idea. Bear in mind there's a big difference in 'carbon fiber look' and the real McCoy. And functional quality.

You can get creative too with your order. I sent one this week that was CF TB pipe/ tungsten gray shield/meter. Looked great!

All 3 tunes, 87,91,& 93 come uploaded.
