I stopped by our local speed shop today, and noticed that they carry the Proff. Products satin version(or whatever, non polished) intake for 285$ complete upper and lower. This sounded to me like a good deal, but i remember hearing that this is the same as the edel. rpm, is this true.

Also what quality is this intake, ports have horrible casting flash or what, how is the fit, and finish when on the car. What kind of power band. You know just general info etc. since i know some of you guys run this intake.

thanks

Jason

Yes that intake is the clone of the Eddy RPM intake. I have heard they had casting problems but have never seen one in person. Theres quite a few people on here running that intake and the fit should be just as good as the Eddy. As for powerband, you'll have more mid-high range power and lose low end.

You are correct that the intake is a copy of the edelbrock rpm intake. The PP intake is made in china I think and the quality is not up to par with that of edelbrock in most of the cases i have seen. Some people report some rough casting and seems to be a little cheap looking and feeling. But most say it works just as well as the edelbrock. It's tons cheaper than edelbrock thats for sure. I would give it a try if I hadn't bought a Trick Flow first. The Trickflow is also a real nice piece and for under $400 about $75-100 cheaper than edelbrock. I know TF is high quality and so is edelbrock but the Prof. Products intake is iffy.

for the price i dont know i think i might use the lower, and just buy a performer upper. I haven't even made up my mind, i have bought a set of p heads and am having work done to them. So whichever intake i use will go with them, and i think that the rpm style intake is gonna be too high range rpm wise per power for those heads. But the TF intakes just looke so huge, they take up the whole engine bay.

still considering sutting the stock upper and having lower ported out even furhter with welding on every runner, and would give me a stock look. I was planning on cutting the plenum of the upper porting it out really well, with a bottle style hone or something, and then having it all rewelded, even considered having some material removed to gain a few rpm.

all opinions are welcome. All i am really trying to accomplish is a low 13 second car. Not trying to get in the 12's or anything just something fun on the street.

where did you get the regular performer upper from. and could you do me a favor, i was wondering how long the runners are from where they turn down to the lower to plenum of the intake. Just to get an idea of the runners on my factory intake.
