Opinions..Road racing slicks on the strip

Have a chance to pick up a cheap set of hoosier R/R slicks, would they work worth a damn on the strip? Don't care about longevity, just wondering if they'll hook better than my street tires for a few runs.

They will suck ass. RR tires are designed to have an extremely stiff side wall so that you can corner hard on it.

The trade off is that you don't get the sidewall flex you need to hook up.

Pass on them if drag racing is your thing.

Drag radials don 't flex the sidewall do they? I'm just wondering if they'll be more sticky than street tires. I know they won't be wrinkle walls but 4 for $100?? Figured it was worth a shot.

I don't see how they couldn't be better than regular street tires . . . sidewall issues aside, any race slicks will be stickier than normal street tires I should think . . .

Although they both share soft tread surfaces, they've still got much different rubber compounds. Aside from the ultra stiff side wall an autocross tire will have, I would imagine autocross tires will get "greasy" when heated, unlike drag radials that get "tacky".

I would save the $100 you'd spend on them and save up another $200 on a set of real drag radials and save the autocross rubber for the road racers.

I can't find anyone that has for sure run them so I think I'll pass, I can pick up a good used set of wrinkles for $150. Thanks for the help guys.

They might be better than basic radials but nothing like drag radials or slicks. The sidewall as mentioned is extremely stiff and will break loose easy. I think this subject has been up several times here.
