Ordering front mm coilover kit-need help choosing spring rates.

ok i have bilstein HD struts/shocks and want the best ride quality possible, by that i mean i dont want it to be harsh over bumps, i am not a corner carver and this car is my d/d so i want it to ride nice and smooth, the only racing i do is the once in a while stop light drag, and i want all this with at least a 1.5 drop when all is said and done, is this possible? i was thinking maybe a 300 spring but will consider softer if it will help my situation, is 275 too soft? i will have the pro-kit springs in the back for now but within a month will do the full boogie rear suspension also with coilovers.

MM has probably some of the best tech support you can get so you can give them a call. With that said, the stock valving in those bilsteins can not dampen past a 350 front. I think the rear is 250 (the maximum guy will know). I have been in cars with 425 fronts and it was pretty stiff. I am ordering 350 fronts for mine which is a daily. Get 300s if you are really concerned about it.

i called mm and they are trying to give me a "sport" ride, there not understanding what i want, will a 300 spring give me a plush ride? by plush i dont mean caddilac plush just something that can soak up pot holes and imperfections in the street.

So you want to lower your car but keep a soft spring...if that is the case it doesn't work that way.

But for you I would go with a 14in 275lb coil spring.

I would suggest you not buy coilovers. The pro-kit that you have gives you the drop you want and a relatively soft ride. The major advantage of coilovers is the ability to run a larger spring rate which you do not really want plus they weigh less, but you have a vert and it is a street car anyway.

so for ride quality im better of staying with regular coil springs? is it the bilsteins that is making them feel harsh on rough roads? would the tokico's have been a better choice?

Just gonna put my 2 cents here, but when I switched to coil overs my ride quality was alot better then the regular coil springs. The spring rates between the coil over and regular springs were very simliar.

The thing is that the coilover is going to increase the wheel rate significantly more per pound than a conventional spring. It is just the nature of the beast. More wheel rate just goes with the territory. Bilsteins are my preference for shocks, Tokicos would make the ride even worse. Just stick with the pro-kit and spend the money else where because I think you would be unhappy with the coilovers.

i have heard of people saying that the pro-kit is harsh maybe i need steedas or something
