I just got a call from my local dealership. I left instructions with the salesman to call me when they get any info. He said that they just came back from a seminar on the new mustang. They told him that orders will not be taken until Dec.!!!
Has anyone else heard this? I hat to think this is the truth. I think he and his manager might be trying to BS me into buying the last Mach1 on the lot. I don't think I can waith that long........

I spoke to a Ford Eng at the autoshow in Baltimore and he said preorder in April on the lots in October. Thats what I have been baseing my plans on. WHo wants to take delivery of a mustang in Dec.? You dont have time to enjoy it.

Thats why im waiting till Spring of 05 to get mine. I figure...even though i work for a Ford dealer...I will be through most of the order craze. My plan is sell my Lightning this fall/winter....pay it off...buy a WINTER BEATER. save up and buy Wheels and tires..i hate the oem's on the 05....cat-back, x-pipe and what ever will be ava. That way when i take delivery everytthing will be installled that day. Well thats the plan anyway.

Are these order lists for GTs or for V6s as well? Will the supply/demand picture be similar for both?

My 2000 will be paid off in October (yippee!), but I'm waiting for a year or so to save money for a sizeable down-payment and allow them to work out bugs (you know there will be some to deal with). They will also find ways to tweak more HP from the 3-valve setup and add some visual upgrades to the bare look.

Typical car salesman, he is just trying any ploy to get you to buy a car now.

Someone who is a salesman at a Ford dealer posts regularly on Brad's site and BON. He just had future product training on the Mustang and other Fords like the 500. May 17 is the 1st order date and Sept 7 is still the job 1 date.

A dealer trying to BS you? Nooooo...say it isn't so. This could never happen.

Everything I've heard still says a Fall delivery to the dealers. I'll be at the Chicago show this weekend so I'll see what they say, for what it's worth.

Maybe your dealer means he's thinking he's going to have such a backlog of initial orders, with the obligatory dealer surcharge, he won't be able to take your order until December.

Take this for what it's worth (were talking about car salesman here), but I talked to a Ford Rep at an auto show today and he said they would start taking orders May 17.

I don't trust car salesman or anyone else in the car business. Most don't even know what they are talking about. Until I see it, I don't believe it.

At the official intro. of the 05 Mustang at the Detroit show, Ford said that May 17 was the first order date. Since then Ford has not said anything more on this subject, to May 17 is the date until Ford tells us something different.

Yep, I just got back from the Auto Show here is Raleigh, NC. They had a red GT up on a spinning display. The Ford announcer said that orders will start on May 17th and they will be built in September and delivered in October.

That is the word from Ford. Personally I am going to wait till the 06 comes out. That way they can work all the kinks out. Every new body style/car has problems in the first year. I'm driving around in a 03 Accord V6 6 Speed right now and it has many minor problems.

I will post my pics later of the red pony I saw yesterday. It was sweet and I can't wait to see them in the dealerships.
