A little off topic but theres no better place to get advice than from a bunch of fellow gear heads. Im about to build a garage and was wondering if anyone else has radiant heating in the floor of there garage. My question is does it cost as much to keep up and running as say a modeine heater or regular small furnace? A buddy of mine owns a body shop. And has it and says its awesome any input?

oh yeah radiant heating is great, however i see it as more effective in a house, cause it heats the floors where u walk. But still, it will work great, because the heat is coming from teh floor and rising, as opposed to it trying to be blown down from the ceiling with a modine, etc.i'de get it if you have forced hot water in your house, but the electrical type can get expensive.

in Alaska, my dad had a huge heater in the rafters - it took some time, but it got quite toasty.

i might atleast try the NE forum - people up there should all be savvy about heating garages.

good luck.

Electric or gas fired infrared heat is just as good and less expensive.
