OT--Yamaha R-6

why is an f4i a good beginner bike? what makes it so much different than an r6? i would say these two bikes are pretty damn near equals as far as a beginner can tell, but yet everyone says not to do the r6 as a first bike? btw i ride an f4i and wouldn't recommend it to a beginner.

yeah f4i's arent beginner bikes arent they faster then the RR's LR94gt ?

you wont lay it down if you are careful although the chances of laying it down are greater I personally know me and 2 of my other friends of the probably 10 guys Ive known in the past 2 years to get bikes have yet to lay ours down . I had a 03 R6 and it got stolen in mrytle beach , keep your bike away from there HINT, now I have an 04 R1 , as long as its an 03 or newer , the R6 is all the bike that anybody needs .....I wish I had saved the money and gotten another one , this R1 has more power than I will ever need ....the speed this thing has is just retarded ...... go get a new R6 and take a rider safety course and have fun ...... 05s have upgraded brakes by the way ....

Im about to buy an 00 r6. It's a pre damn quick bike saying it run's 10.7's and I'm 5'9'' and its nice to sit on so I'm sure just 2in wouldnt make that much of a difference. The guy im getting the bike from said the r6 is a great learning bike but if your an experenced rider go for a gsx-r750 or r1

95cobra 2 inches is a world of differance between comfortably touching the ground or not IMO

It all depends on your preference. The bike that feels he best to you is the one to get. I agree a 600 super sport no matter what the brand is going to be a lot of bike for a beginner. But I did it and I've seen others do it too. Personally I think it would be worth it to drive the 40 miles and at least check the other ones out. Find one that fits your build.

they are actually rated like 10hp lower than the RR but mine was dynoed at 106 to the wheels meaning it is right there within 5 hp of the RR. My buddie has one and with my exhaust and gear set I leave him in the dust.

thats because they were designed to be more track oriented.

WMDPALMER- i have an 01 and couldnt be happier. the new 03+ R6s are even better with the FI and more power. get one, youll love it

Actually my F4i (F4's as well) is very comfortable for the street (besides the seat, it feels like a piece of plywood wrapped in a tshirt) THey have relatively low foot pegs and up right clip ons so you dont have to lean as far forward as the suzuki's yamaha's ect. Now the Honda 600rr is more like the other two brands with the high footpegs and lower clip ons. So those models will all have slightly more ground clearance than the f4i and f4's meanign they are better for the track. I do agree with Stalkerfiveo though, go Fuel injected. Makes for smoother acceleration and less headaches on cold mornings.

seats shouldnt be a deterrant from buying a bike, they have aftermaket gel seats all over the place for sale.

Thanks again for the info. I'm not exactly a stranger to the two-wheeled upright machines. I used to race 125CC Dirt bikes a few years back....ok ok maybe 10 yrs ago. I mainly rode Suzuki's because where I grew up we didn't have a Honda dealer around (over an hour away) and I could be sponsored by the Suzuki dealer. Hondas and Suzuki's at the time where pretty tight bikes. The one Yamaha I had was VERY fast but it always felt as though something was loose or that it wasn't as tight. I just wonder if this feeling has carried over to the sport bike line.

i have an 07 Suzuki GSXR-600 and it is extremely comfortable and fun to drive. I have been on other bikes such as the R6, and a kawasaki ninja and to me the lean over the suzuki feels more natural for me. They are all great bikes.. As far as dealers letting you test drive.. all they will let you do is pretty much sit on them with the kick stand down (which sucks) but the plastics on those bikes are expensive to repair if someone drops it. My bike is actually for sale right now because im trying to loosen up some money to afford a ring for my girl and a house.. The bike is brand new.. only 900 miles on it because when i lived on the shoreline in CT everything was local. let me know if your interested. Regardless of what type of 600 you go with they are soo much fun to go down not only the highway on warm sunny days but you won't mind taking all the back roads to get everywhere

I never laid down my first bike and it was a ZX7R. First bike I laid down was actually when I downgraded to a ZX6R... If you are careful you can ride whatever you want. Just respect the power. I had an '01 GSXR 1000, and that was my favorite by far. Could pull the front wheel in third gear on the interstate, and had good torque for cruising around town. I wouldnt buy a liter bike for a first bike, but you will be fine on an R6 if you just respect the throttle.
