Wow. considering there were several different turbos that the 2.3 used stock, again it really depends.
was this a carb'd turbo car? a Turbocoupe- if so what year?? SVO? Merkur?
Kind of like walking into the 5.0 forums and saying " will this V8 work? is it worth it?"
its from a 89 all i had was the vin. it says its a 2.3 4cyl. but not if its a turbo.
but i'm assuming it has to be cause the car has 5lug rear end with disc brakes. and who would do that if it wasn't modified with a turbo??? the car is at the junkyard. and i was wondering if the tubo alone is worth something.
i ain't going to take an engine that i don't know nothing about espeicially if it may not run.
If its modified who knows. It could be parts from a stripped SVO, god rest its soul, or it could be an engine stripped out of a turbocoupe, which means it is either a T3, trim depending on year, or an IHI turbo. The T3 would be the more desireable of the two, or who knows it could be a cheapo ebay turbo or wherever the previous owners imagination took him. Unless you look at it yourself theres no way to know on a modified car...
yeah the only 89 that could have been a factory turbo would be an XR4TI. Mustang no longer got turbochargers after 86, and the T-birds were done in 88. if you can get some pictures of that car that would help try to figure out what it is.
