Outer Wheel House replacement-71-71?

Ok, so we're working our way around the 73. We're on the drivers side quarter. Replacing the skin we found the wheel house is rotted along the edge. It looks like there's some structure attached to it, but we aren't sure if it's really structural. Anyone replace one? Are we doing to need to brace in the trunk?

If the inner part of the wheelhouse is good just change the outer. I don't know about the 73 but I changed 2 outers in a 64 1/2 and there wasn't any need to do bracing in the trunk. I'm assuming that the 73 is the same.

BUMP! We got the new replacmeent piece and of course it's not bent right. Has anyone actually done this on the 71-73 and found a way to make the repop piece work?
