Morning !

this is actually on a 4.0 V6 '01 Ranger Edge , but what the heck. :D

Think it would be worthwhile to replace the EGR ? I did not know if this was a known sore spot like on the mid 80's 5.0's.

Thanks in advance !

More than likely it is the sensor, not the valve. I had a similar code, but inefficient. I went to autozone and they told me to change the entire valve ($50). It did nothing. I later read up on it on the internet and found that most EGR issues are caused by the sensor ($20 part from dealer).

Do you know where this sensor is ?

I do not have my haynes in front of me, but it seems like there were 1 or 2 other items in the EGR circuit.

I am still trying to get an answer from Ford as to whether or not this is covered by the 8/80K emmissions performance warranty - the local dealer was no help whatsoever.

Surprise, eh ? :spot:

Dealers are all alike , no matter what the brand !

This was a common problem on my '01, so Ford extended the warranty. In my car's case it was the sensor.

Yea, some dealers suck. At the first dealer I went to(the one I bought my car at in Lakeland) the manager tried telling me it wasn't a common problem, there wasn't a service bulletin about it, and the warranty wasn't extended. So I took the car to a BIG Ford dealership in Orlando by my school. The first person I talked to knew it was covered after I told him what needed to be fixed. And he wasn't even a manager.
