Is there a way I can test to see if my PCM is still good? When I burned up my 02 sensor I never threw a code. Also, how can I tell if I have a bad IAC or TPS? I can unplug my TPS and drive around town and not see a difference.. But when I unplug the electrical connector for the IAC the car wont stay running. BUT when the car is running at 2000rpms and I unplug the hose from the IAC it is still sucking a lot of air.... should it do this?

Thanks for your help man, Im starting to go crazy with this thing not running right!

being able to unplug the TPS and drive it is normal.. in EEC V the TPS is a secondary sensor the PCM can work around a bad TPS easily. So I don't think your TPS is bad.

The car dying with the iac unpluged is normal. and at 2000 RPM's the PCM will still be comanding the iAC opened atleast 25 percent so it's normal to feel air there.

I still think the tune is your problem. the headers glowing orange means that thing is running lean as hell.. in fact you might damage the motor if it has not gotten damaged already.

Honestly without live data and without proper diag equipment I really can't pinpoint it for you. As a last ditch effort before you bring this car to a LOCAL tuner you can try getting a PCM out of another car and see how it runs.

I know your tuner has a great rep but without being there with the car it's impossible for him to fix this.. somthign has gone wrong that is causing you to run very very lean..

So this is what steps I think you need to take next

1. check your fuel presure with a manual gauge..

2. If you can get another PCM for free or cheap try a PCM.

3. bring it to a dyno and have it tuned..

Sorry, I just saw that It was full!! doh!

Anyways, I dont know if this makes a difference or not but I was messing around with the TPS and when I have it plugged in the car surges - When I leave it disconnected it drives like a dream; It even feels like I have more power (however the power increase could be phsycological). The headers where glowing orange right when I was reving the motor after I reinstalled the cam (2000-2500 rpms) My buddy was doing the reving and I was checking for leaks- I just about dumped in my pants when I saw them glowing.

I have been trying to find one of those fuel pressure gauges that screws onto the fuel rail- where can I find one?

Also, Im sending back the fidanza gears and using the money for a dyno tune- the closest place is 300 miles away, is it safe to drive it that far or should I try and get a VERY safe tune for the drive?

As far as the PCM is concernced I would have to get one with the same computer code wouldnt I? And would it screw up the PATS?

Thanks for your help Mike, I really appreciate it.

you should have TPS circuit faults with the TPS unpluged.. but it might take a drive cycle or too for the code to show up. The PCm will do that sometimes to try and see if the fault will go away before it lights of the CEL.

No I would not drive it far at all. It might smell rich because it is misfiring, a misfire will cause that because your dumping raw fuel into the exhaust. The glowing headers point to very very high exhaust temps, and that points to the car running lean as hell.

Yes a diffent computer would have to be programed to work with pats.

One thing I would do to get it to your shop for a tune is a blank path pcm reprogram. this is like wipeing a computers hard drive clean and starting from scratch. You will need to bring it to somebody with a IDS or a WDS for scan tool to do this. If they don't know what you are talking about I will tell you what to tell them to do.
