I'm getting ready to throw my 65 coupe into the body shop this friday. I want to paint the car black, but I was thinking of doing a black with kind of a flat black vinyle type double stripe. The kind of black that was on some of the 71 hoods and I think the new chargers have something like that also. I want something a little different but down nicely and kind of subtle. Has anyone seen this done. All input is welcomed

I have seen it on an x-brand car and thought it was really blah. The flat black on shiny black just didn't work for me. If the base color was different, maybe my opinion would change, as I loved my '86 white Mustang with flat black stripes.

I'd have to see it.

The '03-04 Mach 1 can be had in black with flat black hood stripe, side stripes, and rear spoiler. I like the way it looks.

I don't know about dual stripes in flat black all the way down the car.

yeah I've seen it on the 03's also...I think that is where I got the idea. I haven't really seen it on a older mustang before but for some reason I'm kind of nervous about it. Maybe ghost stipes would be better? How would that look anyone have any pics?

ps thank you for all the input

Any chance your body shop would be willing to work with you

Most basecoat/clearcoat paint jobs I've seen have a fairly flat base coat. If they could spray the whole car with clear except the parts you'd like to see in flat, then roll it out, it may give you an idea of what you want.

I'm kind of talking out my arse here because I know next to nothing about body work, other than seeing cars in different stages at a body shop I used to go to a lot, and asking questions.

Something to ask about anyways.
