Painting H-pipe?????????

Do you guys think its a good idea to pait my h-pipe with motor paint or will it just burn off? The h-pipe wasn't coated to begin with so its getting rusty. I was thinking I would sand it but I know the rust will come back so I wanted to paint it after its sanded.

Don't bother. There are plenty of other things you can do. Do some preventitive maintenance. Chage EVERY fluid. Change plugs, PCV, etc. Do not waste your valuable time painting the f'n exhaust

Yeah I see your point but I hate rust more than anything it looks bad and it spreads. And plus all my fluids have been change already took care of that when I changed my oil.

Im sure you could use some really high temp engine paint or powdercoating material like they use for headers.

I used engine enamel on my off road h pipe (when I had one) and the paint only stayed intact in a few areas. The paint I used was rated at 500 degrees though - there are higher temp versions that should hang on longer.

I painted mine with a high temp ceramic paint. Worked pretty good but smells all the way to hell for a few days.

Well if it smelled bad wasn't that the paint burning off or I guess it could have been baking in self on the metal. How does it smell now?

How low is that midpipe hanging? I've got the 4X4 look and I can't see mine. Change your plugs...do something more constructive.
