Ok...so I did the Cobra brake swap on the GT several months ago. I was impatient and I didn't paint the rotor hats when I installed the kit. Now the rotors are a nice rust color where it really should be painted. Can I paint them now? Or do I just have a visual reminder of how I just need to do it right the first time....next time

You can paint it now. Use electrical tape to mask the swept area, bag the caliper and paint. Might need to spin the rotor and do it twice

Ok..since the wheels are silver I could just use silver caliper paint as well correct? I just wasn't sure if the rust color would just bleed through and peel the paint. Sand it at all? Thanks for the help!

i did this a few weeks ago.
get some steel wool and sand off some as much of the rust as you can. get a rag and clean the rust off. tape off the section where the pad contacts. don't paint where the wheel touches the hat cause any uneven..ness will cause a vibration.

Looks great! Thanks for the picture of how you masked it off! Did you paint into the edges of the rotor as well? BTW...what kind of paint did you use?
