Parking Brake Help!!

I ordered a complete replacement for my emergency brake system from handle to drum. I get out there to install it and the front cable ends (the leaded piece to termintate the wire) is oblong, way to big to fit into the new handle or even the original for that matter???

Anybody got a clue what cable I really have?

I noted, oh 8 months ago, when I removed all this stuff that the cable exited the firewall at an angle, through an angled cut-out in the firewall. There was a large black piece around the front cable. This cable does not have that?

Sounds like they sent you the wrong thing and you should return it right away. The sooner the better.

Parking brake

I just went through the same thing with my '68...PO had removed the entire assembly, no handle, no cables, no lines.

I ordered a who used setup from bobsford.com in Portland. I laid everything out on the garage floor to see how it all fit together, with the help of the Ford Manual and Osborne Manual. The manuals will really give you alot of help with understanding how it all works together and what goes where.

I just went through the EXACT same thing! My solution? Grind that piece to fit. I used a Dremel to do it. Worked perfectly.
