This is awfully annoying anymore. Car is a 5 spd car and whenever i get to about 2k rpms, the parking brake button starts to vibrate and make an extremely annoying rattling sound. i have tried to shove something in there temporarily, but it keeps falling out. anyone else have a similar problem and know how to fix it?

You need to take up any slack in the center cable. I found on my friends (mine don't rattle thank god) that if I pulled up on the handle to the first notch it stops. You could problly just pull up on the handle and mark on the plate with all the catching teeth and notch a new resting one that will be way before where the first notch is now but enough to take up any slack in the cable.

I hope you can understand this It's kinda hard to describe with out showing you.

My parking brake button rattles too.

I usually just push the botton, and that cures it for a while, then it comes back.

you know how the e brake handle lockes it self on the teeth. Well what I'm trying to say is you need to make a new groove instead of pulling it to the first one. You might be ok just leaving it on the first one depending on how well your e-cable is set. Next time your in your car and it rattles just pull up on the handle slightly untill it stops ratteling

I use a tinfoil wrapper from a stick of gum folded up and shoved into the bottom of the gap between the button and shifter lever. So far so good...
