I just pulled the 5.0 out of my '89 LX. I am installing an '85 302. My question is, do I need to swap the timing cover and water pump from the '89 onto the '85 in order to get the pulleys and serpentine belt stuff to fit? It seems like the water pump I have on the '85 does not come forward enough for pulleys from the '89 to fit on.
I'd like to avoid having to take the timing cover off the old engine, and I'd like to use the water pump I have rather than using the old one off the '89 or buying a new one.
