Patriot Heads??

I have had stage 2 put on mine for about a yr now no problems at all! but if i were to to it again i would go with VT they were much more helpful when i called for a shortblock!

i was a retard and listen to a friend of mine that had some so i got them and was going to order comp cams but went with VT i shoulda just got the heads and cam from VT OH WELL :(

When i was researching heads i called Patriot and spoke with Gunther and he is a great guy BUT i just read too many bad stories about valve issues etc to buy them. Although every bad story was followed up with they did everything they could to fix the problem, I chose to spend my money with VT on a set of Stage 2 heads.

Thanks for the input! I read an article about them online and they were saying how great they are. Obviously Patriot paid them to do an article on them, so thanks to you guys I just saved a bunch of money on my head! ahaha

You have to remember that a lot of people have probelms with aftermarket headwork, such as valve train trouble due to the fact they have PTV contact with their cam application, and this tends to lead to the failure of the valves. In fact, this has happened in many cases. That, and sometimes people just don't install things correctly and this leads to premature failure. If you investiage each case of failed heads, it's usually due to the installer and the customers fault, and not that of the buisness, though it does happen where the buisness just doesn't put the heads together as they should.

Last year my car was running 12.5's@111. Patriot stage II heads,Comp 270 cams, longtubes and 4.30 gear. The car is making 545rwhp with the same heads right now running out of fuel at 5000 rpm.

I don't think the heads that have failed have been due to cheap parts. They use stainless valves, better springs, and titanium retainers. However, I'd like to see them upgrade to some bronze guides, and better known stainless valves and springs rather than their own. The valves are probably Fererra and springs comp anyway, but called Patriot by them. The upgrade might help them clear there bad rep.

One problem I saw was oil leakage. Isn't this through the guides? If that's the case, then It may be cheapest to order their stage III heads for $1495.00OUTRIGHT PRICE, and have a local shop take the guides out and put some bronze guides in. Then again, the clearances may not be very close... All in all, it is too bad since you cannot beat that price anywhere.
