This is actually for my friend hes got a 5.3L Z71 00' Chevy. His accelerator pedal sticks just off idle, but otherwise is fine, it doesn't happen all the time and it doesn't matter if its hot or cold! Does the throttle cable need adjustment or could it be something hindering the butterfly in the TB? Thanks I know this is not Mustang related but if it happens it would be good to know

I had a similar problem on a 86 GT, and it was a throttle cable adjustment.Had it idled back to far and was hanging up.
I had a 2000 GMC pickup and the gas pedal would feel sticky for me from time to time. If it’s the same thing that’s happening to your friends truck, it would feel sticky after first starting the truck and be fine after driving it a short period of time. It would feel sticky again if the engine was shut off or if it sat idling for several minutes. It felt like the cable was hanging on something and I would have to apply slight pressure to the gas pedal to get passed this sticky/hanging feeling which caused the truck to lunge forward when I wanted to easy away from a dead stop.
If this is what it is doing, mine was caused by a ring of carbon buildup inside the throttle body where the butterfly flap would sit at idle. The gas would dry causing this sticky feeling and once this ring of carbon buildup became wet with fresh gas flow the sticky throttle would go away. Our Chevy 2500 company truck does the same thing. Clean the throttle body and see if this helps the problem.
