pedal to the floor?!?! wtf

WTF is wrong with my stang. I was just pulling out of the top foods parking lot and i feel my pedal go all the way to the floor! wtf! my gas pedal is kind of stiff, now it feels like a v-6 mustang or a 4-banger pedal. There is no wide open throttle. How can i tell? Well i used to push the semi-stiff gas pedal to the ground and i heard my AOD drop two gears and the infamous drone would then come and i could feel the torque and i would take off. Now when i put the pedal on the floor there is no resistance and no AOD gear shift at all! wtf is going on! someone please help!

Your TV cable fell off the throttle body.

Don't drive the car again until you get a new clip and fix it. The factory clip is plasic and always breaks. It has happened to me twice. Ford has a replacement peice that's metal that will solve the problem.

do you know what the name of the metal factory piece is? or the part number? thanks for your help. how much did it cost?

No, i never bought one.

I rigged something up myself. I put a rubber grommet in the hole on the TB blade and pushed the little tit on the TV cable up into it. Then i got a cotter pin and put it around the tit on the grooved section. Then with needle nose pliers i tightened the cotter pin up. It's held like this for 3 years.

man, you are scarring me, you never ever rig a TV cable. period. Don't drive it till you get it fixed, any ford parts man worth anything will know exactly what you are talking about. Cost about $8 if I remember right.

I drove about 200 miles with the TV cable broke on the highway doing 80MPH.

This was about 40,000 miles ago. The AOD still shifts fine. Anyone want it? It's coming out soon for a t-5 swap.

well another UPDATE and supposedly they dont make it anymore, you have to buy the whole throttle body assembly which im not going to do, so any other suggestions?

Yeah, stop being cheap and go buy it before you have big problems. Or if you want to save some money, go get the TB assembly from a parts car. What has happened to your car is the same thing that happened to me when I blew up my AOD. I had the same problem as StonyGT. When the clutches were taken out of the transmission they were blue.

Check a local Stang shop if there is one. When mine busted, I went all over the place. Ford, parts stores, etc. The Stang shop had one sitting on a stock TB/intake setup, and just gave it to me and even put it in so I wouldn't get myself dirty :)

That thing breaking sucked. Car starts redlining on the street, can't get out of 2nd or past 40mph. No good!!

Ford said the only thing to do was purchase the entire throttle cable assy. for $60, which I Was going to do (desperate times, desperate measures!) but then they told me it'd be about 2 weeks. So forget that. A trip down to the shop and I was rollin' in no time. Other than that, check around on the classifieds section of this and other sites for people selling throttle bodies, maybe it's still attached. Or look on ebay for throttle bodies and see if the grommet is still there.

I had a bunch of TB's laying around but don't believe any had that with it.
