i just started upgrading my car (190lph, TransGo Shift Kit, ASP Pulleys) and was wondering what would be the perfect setting for my timing. I've seen between 14* to 16*? BTW it's a 95 GT AODE Vert. I'll be getting the 4.10 in about 1 month.

I would fool with it a little bit and go as far as you can (probably between 14 and 16*) without pinging (on premium fuel of course). It really varies with different cars. Some guys get pinging at 12*, some run 18* with no problem.

Most dyno's show no gain after ~15*. I have mine at 14* with stock heads, but most aluminum heads can take a lot more timing.

I have to run no less than 16 degrees of timing or else my car will ping really badly.
