Performed cylinder balance test....results.

thanks so my car might be acting up because of someething other than the injetctor becau se it passed the cylinder balance test

It just means that all the cylinders are contributing. If an injector was stuck (or a wire was shorted to ground, as sometimes happens after an R/R), the CBT should have found it.

Well, got around to replacing the dead injector.........

Feels like i gained 50HP!! OMG! I know my car felt peppy and quick before...but now it's got POWER. 1st is useless, 2nd is fun and i still gotta be careful into 3rd! This is what a 5-spd LX with 3.73's should feel like! It just feels, sounds and revs so much healthier. It pulls strongly and it's FAST! I can't beleive i was driving on 7 for a year and didnt even realize it!

Just to be sure, i ran the codes and did the CBT again. Got all 11's and all cylinders passed. I kinda wonder if i should reset the computer to let the car relearn again? Anyway, idle is silky smooth, the engine makes virtually no noise, doesn't shake at all! You'd never know it was a 22-year old engine! I'm in love with my car again!

Here's the offending injector. I'm gonna clean it up a bit more and put it on my desk at work. The coil was gone inside. Checked resistance and it was completely open.

did the car have a idle issue like it had a vacuum leak?

Not really. It has a minor shake at idle and up to 1500 RPM. I had just done the 5-spd swap..so i thought i had something out of balance. It didn't even have idle surge. Up until the ECT **** the bed, it idled fine. Once the ECT died...i had issues with idle and starting it...which got me digging into codes and stuff and lead to the dead injector.

This is how it ran on 7 cylinders

when my car is idling it shakes for second, stops shaking for about 3 seconds then shakes for a second then stops over and over, tomorrow ill check my injectors. ive replaced all vacuum lines when i put all my vacuum stuff in the fenders. i dont have any vacuum leaks or anything, it just started shaking for no reason. new plugs and wires when i rebuilt it. ive gone over everything twice and it looks good i dont know what is wrong with my car

i checked my injectors with a auto stethoscope today and heard ticking on them all, meaning they work. i also checked my spark plugs and they all were consistent, none of them were very wet. i then checked my fuel pressure with a guage hooked to the shrader valve, and it read at 35psi running, and 40 without vacuum to the regulator.i shut the car off, checked the fuel guage about 20 mins later, and the fuel pressure had dropped from 35 to 22. does this mean my injectors are leaking? if so how do i check if my injectors are leaking?

All systems will bleed down pressure over time. Your pressure drop is not what I would consider excessive. The check valve in the pump's pressure side and the fuel pressure regulator are the two primary causes of the pressure drop you described. Neither one is bad enough to consider replacement.

The cylinder balance test will spot leaking injectors by showing weak cylinders that have good compression and good spark. If the spark and compression are good, the only reason that the cylinder would fail the cylinder balance test is a bad injector.
