Just wondering if anyone else finds a noticeable SOTP performance increase after an oil change?? I'm guessing i just got maybe a 10 hp increase:D , maybe it's just psychological, but i definitely feel a difference after an oil change. anyone else notice the same? has there ever been dyno tests for this? i just went from 10W30 synthetic to 5W30 synthetic, so that may have a bit more effect this time, but even when i stick with the same viscosity, i notice a difference....

That shouldnt happen. I can see a minor power increase going from a 10 weight to a 5 weight...but nothing you would feel in the SOTP. I think its just in your head. I "think" the car feels better after an oil change too...but i think its just peace of mind...and i probably give it hell.

I always seem to notice that oil is thicker "new" than it is when it has seen 3,000 miles. Hmm...

Seems like it would do the inverse.

However, I recall way back when, I had a '99 Ford Ranger I did not change the oil for like 5-6,000 miles, and I swore I felt a decent increase in power from an oil change:shrug:

But it probably is more piece of mind...

Hmm, I wait until I have 15k miles on the oil before I take it to the dragstrip. It's nice and thin by then and gives me an extra edge when I take it down the 1/4 mile.

:Word: Same here, I just change filters though. Your 302 should burn/leak enough oil that you've cycled 5 new quarts through it by 3k miles anyway. Just change the filter every 3k.
