I'm building up a 351w block ALL Forged 4340 basically I want to do this once right and not have to do it again. I want to keep it 351 stroke but its a hell of a lot cheaper to make it a 383 or 408 but I will be driving this on the street everyday....Only reason I don't want to stroke it is a 383 or 408 is going to burn alot more gas and I want to turbo it next year so I don't need a huge displacement....but it will be ALOT cheaper and easier to get stroker internals. Can someone persuade me to stroke it or suck it up and pay over 2 grand for a forged 351 kit with tw pistons?

shouldnt have to persuade but here you go u want a reliable street car with good bottom end torque when u stroke it it helps. also dont run a radical cam or high comp like 8.5:1 or 9:1 and u can still boost it. as well u can get a bigger turbo for more top end torque at high rpms cause u will have plenty at low rpms YouTube - 1991 Mustang 408 Idle YouTube - 408w First Start - New Cam

the first one is now boosted it is a 408 u can find him on turbo mustangs.com and the second one is chromedoutdubs but his is nitrous and a lil more radical then ull prolly want so man all i have to say is either way it is a good motor wish u the best

If your gonna drive it everyday and your going to a 351 your gonna lose some m.p.g. anyway so a few extra cubes shouldnt DRASTICALLY decrease your mileage. And with the extra torque your gonna make, the less rear end gear you will have to run.Its kinda hard to have your cake and eat it to.If your worried about gas mileage then maybe stick wth what you have.

I was able to hit 20mpg with my 408w using 3.27 gears (you won't want much more than that anyway...)
I routinely hit 18mpg in typical driving.

That setup is gone now, and I am making some changes...

Look into a custom cam if you really want to maximize your power and economy.

You say TW pistons. What TW heads are you planning to run? You really need to look at how much power you want to make and what type of manners you want to have then pick the head and cubes that will get you there.

It does you no good to build a 408 and put a 175 head on it unless you want a stump puller that falls on it's face at 4800.
