i can get a set of pi heads and windsor valve covers for 250 bucks. the heads have bout 50k on them, they are partial ported and he said may need a valve job. is it worth it. can i do thevalve job myself, are they hard to install, and will i have a good horsepower gain and will i need a computer upgrade?

i dont quite see what you are sayin to say man

1996-1998 Mustangs had the ****ty heads (NPI heads)
1999-2004 Mustangs have PI heads.

You plan on swaping your new 2004 PI heads for older (50,000 miles) heads? I just think you're confused.

PI=Performance Improved.

Don't waste your money on that intake pipe and the MAF. The pipe won't give you much gains except for maybe 1hp if you're lucky. It's just mainly for looks. You won't need a bigger MAF until you hit 350+ RWHP. The plenum will give you about 6-8 RWHP when combined with a bigger throttle body and it'll cost about $400.

if the heads are only 250 bucks, I would get them and send them off to be worked over and a good P&P. Then put some agresive cams, better springs, valve guides, valves, lash adjusters and followers. You'll have a really good gain over your stock PI heads and cams.

Sorry i just had to have a little fun with you there. Only us 96-98 suckers need to worry about the PI stuff. You already have the goods. If you can get them for $250 why not. Send them to Total Engine Airflow or a local shop that you know of and get them ported and polished real good. While your at it get VT stage 2 cams and new springs and you will probably gain at least 50-60 horse. :nice:

It will be more like $1500 for the full meal deal. To do a good port and polish job my guess would be about $500, VT Stage 2 Cams I believe are around $599 for both and the new springs that would be required for the cams would be another $400. Won't be cheap but will add some good snap. This is if you can do all the work yourself of course. You'd have one bad N/A stang.
