Hey guys, first off i would like to say that you all have been a huge help so far. Thanks. Heres the deal....I'm looking into swaping a set of 01PI heads into my 96 GT and also adding a set of longtubes and a cated h pipe that flows into my borla side exhaust. The only thing holding me back is the fact that i live in Dupage county of Illinois. EMISSIONS are my worst nightmare. If i go ahead with this set up am i going to have problems with emissions? I know that with the head swap and the long tubes that i will be running a lil rich, but will a dyno tune clear that up? or do you think that i will be ok with out a tune for a lil bit. I have to go for emissions in january so i have some time, but the head swap parts put me a lil over budget and there isn't any money left till next summer for a dyno tune. Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the subject for me. Thanks in advance

Jeff

I dont think you'll have problems as long as you get the catted H. From what i understand emissions is mainly concerned with Carbon Monoxide. I believe catalytic converters convert harmful Carbon monoxide into less harmful carbon dioxide and water. So it doesnt really matter if you run rich or lean, except the smell and how quickly your pipes turn black on the inside, among other things.

I ran my car with an 01 engine, MAC longtube, and a Cat pipe that I made myself (took 2 cats out of a 99+ stock pipe) and welded them in. Took a whle to get the cats warmed up, do to no preheaters, but it passed. If you get an aftermarket pipe with highflow cats you should be fine.

In Illinois they only plug into your computer to test 96-present vehicles. I think as long as you have cats and are not pulling any codes (check engine light) you should be fine.
