the v6 is supposed to cover the quarter in 14.5 and what seems wrong to me, but it said the manual can do it in 2/10ths slower. i figured they'd be the same and if not the manual faster.

Just from my personal experience.........

An Auto will have a faster E.T. but the Manual will have a higher MPH.

I dont think they have released any "official" numbers but Im sure those are pretty close and if so the new V6 Camaro is going to put a hurting on the GT Mustang. Ford really needs to get their head out of their asses and start putting some real power into the lower end models and not just the high end ones that are to expensive for to many people to afford.

If you are concerned about up with todays technology, the 5.0 will need beefing. We are in a reverse market. It's the old car that are at a disadvantage this time b/c the car companies are making vehicles that are technologically superior so they can do more with less. On top of that they are making bigger c.i. motors. So the forumla = bigger c.i. plus latest advanced heads/ c/i/ and or power adder. All bets are off now and we have to pay to play.

They're selling those for $60k? That's like Lotus Exige territory. Giant assed Challenger or Exige, that's a no brainer to me. Hell, I'd rather take a used Z06or a GT500. I don't see the draw. It's cool, but nothing incredibly special. It's just another huge Dodge.

Well, they're supposed to be selling for a little under $40k, but this year is the limited editions hot rod SRT8 only, so dealers are marking them way up

And right now even though these have the top dog motor, they're still 4000 pounds and only have a 3.08 rear gear. And they only have a peg-leg rear end in them too That's why they're so slow.

I can't wait to get my hands on one with a stick, take some weight out, throw in some 3.73s...then we'll see how much fun they are

wtf, thats dumb on dodges part to put a peg leg rear end in there, especially in a performance vehicle.

and i definitely agree ford has to step up their motors, i mean, the only performance car we have right now is the mustang and its heavy and yeah its putting out some decent power, but if these numbers are true for the camaro its going to be a fast car.

although, it said they would only run 14.5 with the 6er, even with 300 hp. either its got a gas mileage rear end gear or it weighs 3 million pounds. or one of the numbers is screwed up

ford needs to get another performance vehicle in my opinion. something that you dont turn around and see 30 of, keep the mustang, just have another one thats affordable. cause if you want a manual transmission with a v8 in a car, what options do you have from ford?

if ford could make a retro cougar like that, same platform as a mustang just looks like a cougar, i would be all over it. the hide away headlights, the sequential tail lamps.

The open diff is temporary. Dodge used a TCS or something where they use the rear brakes as a locker. Next year they will have a true locking rear end.

Ford still sells more and has even with less hp since 93 when the Lt1 had what 275 or something to the 225 fox.

Ford is sitting in a nice little spot with a proven platform, solid sales, and a winning tier program to sell/market the cars. I hope Ford does step up with a 350/400hp modular that is not assisted by boost in the next generation with an ecoboost turbo 6 option as some kind of "step up" from the base but still lower than the GT. Even if the GT only gets say 350hp and have something like a Mach1/BOSS and a Cobra model as the top dog having say a 400hp 5.0 N/A modular and a boosted cobra. Just KEEP THE V8 ALIVE is all I realy ask with the way gas/smog/profit goes.

Chevy and Dodge have a lot of catching up and have been out of the game for some time. Not only that but both will have a fairly short time in the limelight...with Dodge and Chevy basicly sharing a lot of looks and a close launch date. Ford will be the one coming in last with an update and say...-office space voice- Yeah were going to need you to redesign that now to compete with our new model already-end office space voice-

Add that both Cheyy and Dodge will have to sell a stagering amount in this market to pay for design, production, platform, ect. something Ford if worst comes to worse can just delay the launch of the next model (win win either way for them really, letting the hype die down and keep its own thunder) and gain more profit from a platform that will have already paid for itself (like the fox did). GM and Dodge are trying to bring something back from scratch in the worst environment possible needing every sale to count. Ford has a HUGE cash cow in the mustang and with 3-4 model years under its belt can have a slide in sales as the platform should have a less cost per car due to that age.

They need to release something more in line with the European/Japanese sports cars. I would like to see something like a small (sub-3.5 Litre) high revving V8 AWD Focus type rally car sorta thing. Something to whoop up on the new WRX Sti which is already an awsome car.

What about a ecoboost turbo 3.5 v6 in an AWD fusion? If there is a manual option...THAT would have a line waiting around the block to get one.

Yeah!!

My wife and I bought a 06 4 cylinder Fusion and we love it. Last year at the Ford show I saw a after market version w/ AWD and V6 turbo. I got a pamphlet from them but lost it and can't find anything on the interwebs about it. The 06 is about paid off and I would like to get rid of my wifes old Saturn. A turbo Fusion would be a definite buy.

thats one car ive definitely been saying since i first saw them if they offered an awd manual car with a motor that put out some decent power, i could see myself driving.

but, the new SHO is looking amazing. the 3.5 ecoboost turboed v6 that your taking about with i think it said a 6 speed and awd.

i'll have to find the article.

ford should definitely sell a fixed up fusion, i haven't watched nascar much in the past couple years, but i think its still the fusion. when the thunderbird was in nascar, they had a few different option sporty thunderbirds.

I am looking at getting a new DD/car. At the top of the list is a fusion. I am looking at a 4 popper manual. I test drove one and man they are a great car. Just waiting to see what the rebates go up to on the 08's. The currant v6 is nice but I just dont see the benifit as its not that big of a jump in power, no manual, and a good drop in mpg.

Yeah a 400hp V6 would be great to see. I don't care for Fusions though, I always thought they were ugly. Then again, I'm a huge fan of the new Audi body stylings which some people hate.

I thought z28 is the base v8 and ss is the Top of the line for camaros?

Think about this...

Instead of buying a new car...save that 35k and spend about 15-20k on our 5.0 motor...

How many horsepower would we have? I think we would have lot more then 400rwhp... and blinged out engine bay and boom boom sound system.

Despite the advancement in technology these new cars that are coming out are heavy as hell. The new challenger is a pig that's why it runs low 13's w/ a 6.1L Hemi. On avg most guys are around 200lbs and that brings the new challenger up to almost the mid 4,000 lb range. The new Camaro is heavy, the new charger is heavy. My car is no light weight but with me in it its about 3,600lbs and that's less then most of the new cars w/ out the driver by a few hundred pounds.
