i'm hiding all my wires and would like to see what you guys did with some things.

heres what i'm looking for.

-the fuse box in the fender
where did you guys bolt this up to?

-the mess in the passenger firewall corner
where did you guys hide it?

-what did you do with that solenoid connected to the vacuum tree?

thanks. more q's later i'm sure

-The mess in the passenger firewall corner
It's still there. I pushed what I could down into the inner fender and just left the rest hanging down low.

-what did you do with that solenoid connected to the vacuum tree?
??? What solenoid? I deleted my vacuum tree...

-the fuse box in the fender
It looks a little different now because I had to change the power wire.

heres a pic of that solenoid

old pic but best i could find with it.

is it egr/air related? if so i'll remove it completly.

i really want to put my fuse box in the fender to really clean up the engine bay but want to be able access it.

i'm thinking about cutting an outline of the lid in the wheel well liner and and have the fuses accessable. just pop off the lid in the liner and there they are. i dont drive in the rain unless i get stuck in it. i'll see what i can come with i guess.

this is going to be fun :(

thanks

That goes to the charcoal canister in the pass fender. I deleted mine...

I thought about that with my fuse box, then I thought "how often do I really need access to the fuse box?" In my experience, that's been never. I would much rather have to remove to the fender liner once in a while if I need to than to have the fuse box exposed.

Good luck man.

What are the pro's & cons of deleting this? Of course the pro would be less clutter & weight, but what does this affect? If anything important?

Long time no post, so why the hell not..

you can check out my old geocities site, but the bandwidth on it sucks! I need up upload the pics, and info to my own site. Anyhow, some of the photos might help http://www.geocities.com/turbofiveslow/

The deal that was refered to as the solinoid that goes to the charcol canister is emissions related and is for reburnning of fuel vapors from the tank.. I suppose it could be deleted, but why? I had a very clean engine bay, and I simply just rerouted this solinoid to hang below the a/c condensor, on the firewall.. You can tuck it somwhere down there, and it hides very nicely.

For the fuse box, thats pretty simple.. Basically what Low5.0 did except I would fabricate up some sort of bracket to secure it, using 1/16" steel or 1/8" aluminium.

The clutter on the pass side airbox area is very simple..
You unplug everything on that side and pull the main harness ( the one coming from the front headlight panel) through the headlight cutout in front.. The harness that is coming from the inner fender area gets pulled through the cutout on the inner fender and is tucked in the inner fender area.. For the main harness up front, you route this under the headlight cutout, back to the inner fender area where it meets back up with the plugs. unbolt the ignition module and plug that back into the plug that now resides in the pass side inner fender area.. You can either bolt this module backup, or just zip tie it to the main harness ( it does not require a ground, as far as I remember)

Im sure others will fill you in on the rest..

For the fuse box, I mounted it similar to low5.0's except that it's mounted upside down, so when I slide under the car and look up, I'm looking right at the fuses. Your best bet is to just move the box to the general location, plug everything in and then determine a good spot to bolt it down to. Good luck.

thanks for the tips guys

i'm gonna do it the same way that you did it in those pics you have oink.

i'm worried about access to the fuses and it doesnt look to bad from your old pics. i'll just get a billet fuse cover too.

what did you guys do about the alt wires coming from the fuse box? how did you route it? doesnt look like its long enough when the wires are coming from the fenders.

just finished relocating all my wires.

only ran into one problem. alt wire. its not going to be long enough to reach. i'm gonna have to run my alt wire to the trunk for the battery anyways but, what about the 2 connectors from the alt to the fuse box?

what did you guys do about this?

my pics are in my heads/cam/intake thread in the tech form.

The only wire I had to extend on my harness hiding project was both turn signals. I ran my main harness under the fuse box, looped under the radiator and the rest in the passenger fender. My fuse box is still under the hood though.

That charcoal canister is for unburned fuel returning back to the motor. There is a fairly large box that vacuum hose connects to. It's right under the radio/stereo antenna in the passenger side fender. The Check engine light will come on if its disconnected. I tucked mine in the passenger side fenderwell right by the A/C evap.

I have been hiding more of my wires too. I decided to keep the fuse box under the hood but cut a hole under it and ran the wires out to the fender well. I am saving the pics for now but I think the idea is similar to something I read awhile back from Oink.

Okay, so after some reading I guess it wasn't from Oink but someone else on here.

I decided to keep the fuse box under the hood because of the large holes that it would leave and I am not ready to weld in filler plates and repaint and all that jazz.

That was fast! I can't believe you got it painted allready, kick ass! :nice:

I extended both of the wires from the alt. It looks like you kept the fuse box in the stock location, why would the alt wires not reach there?

i put my fuse box here -

Was pretty simple.

The whole hiding wires thing, you just gotta dive in and do it yourself. Its hard for anyone on here to explain it all. Its very simple and straight forward, just a bit time consuming.

Old thread!

I wish I had seen this when I was hiding wires during my Cobra conversion, I would have put the fuse box in the same place. It's still accessible from this point although you have stick your head under the car to do it. But still accessible. if I hide wires on my GT, I'll be putting my fuse box here. :nice:
