I think they're just all around crappy filters, but I forgot what exactly was so crappy.

Fram uses cellulose media which is a natural material which are stranded to uneven lengths and shapes. The partition between strands can be very small, or large, either constricting oil flow, or allowing particles to pass through. You can see this by putting it up to a microscope. Also, counting the pleats, the amount of surface area media in the Fram filter, they generally have about half of other major brands, Fram also uses a weak retaining spring consisting of thin tin, and a plastic clip, compared to coil springs found in others, they also have a brittle anti drain back valve on them, if they dry out they can easily deteriorate. The most noticeable is without taking one a part, just the openings on a Fram are really small compared to like a Wix.

What oil filter do you recommend?

I am a sucker for there textered grip.
Everyone i have talked to said Wix filters, and I think Purolator is mad by them....

And car looks great by the way.

I Like K&N oil filers.

Does anyone know if the Fram HP filters are any better than the regular fram.
How about the Motorcraft FL1HP?

wix, K&N, Motorcraft, Mobil 1, Moroso racing filter, are all top notch, with the Moroso probably being the best

Barely got it running last night, so i'll probably finish up all the braces and front wnd drive it tomorrow and break in the clutch etc.

Its supposed to be 7psi, but my guage reads 10psi at the compressor and about 5-7psi at the hat.
