Pictures of Aftermath

#3 just makes me angry. And anger is an emotion I reserve for things that I find morally wrong and impacts many people.

Yeah.. I just live through a frakin' hurricane and I find the need to go steal SHOES.... NOOOooooooo Water. Food. medication in despiration for my family..MAYBE... But.,,that is just thuggin'. I sure hope none of them drowned with all their clothing..... Grrrr...

On a lighter note... amazing how out of such devastation, there is beauty. Pics 1 and 2 are beautiful.

Still looking..

It's not everybody. There are a lot of good people down there suffering. I know the media has talked it up to a degree that makes us think that's all that's happening. I don't think they should have pulled people off of search and rescue to stop looting. Save the people first. Lives are more important than guarding against a pair of wet Nikes being stolen. No matter what the tragedy, there will always be people there to exploit it. It's the nature of the beast called man. Exploited for politics, exploited for free shoes. It's terrible, but the focus has got to be on the good people because they're there. :flag:

all i have to say is that looters are the scum of the earth and i could understand better if they were taking water and canned goods with can openers but when you see the ****ers taking things like footballs, microwaves, box after box of shoes, and other bull**** items that have no value to preserving life, i can't express the complete disgust for life i feel. People worked their whole lives to afford those businesses and useless ****s jump on this, i hate it. Had to vent after seeing some of those pics including the one in front of walmart where you can clearly see the police suv in the picture. Disgusting :fuss:

Know what I think?! I think this is total :bs: . This really pisses me off. They are REALLY in need down there. Hell, the U.S. is in need with such a blow. Didn't the world just rally to help in Asia with their tsunami? Where's our relief for our hurricane? No one around us is lifting a finger yet. Yeah we'll be able to do it ourselves but we sure as hell shouldn't have to. They say people are climbing to the top of the stadium and killing themselves. Some guy stabbed his sister over a bag of ice. People are waiting 6 hours for gas in some places. There may not be as many dead as in the Asian occurance in the beginning of the year but its a huge deal for us. We do some jacked up things around the world, I admit, but we deserve some help. The country does a lot of good too. We help out a lot because we can. Where's everyone else? Huh?

:fuss:

Edit: Also, this just shows how selfish people can be. Come on people. Help each other out. We're in a national crisis and some people think about stealing some Rams jerseys. Then we see the pictures at Walmart. Lets grab a football. Really. Yeah it can keep your kids busy while people die. This just shows human nature without authority around to control.

i grew up in the New Orleans area I lived in Metaire and still have relatives there.
It is awful just plain tragic what is going on there.
My take on the slow relief efforts are that after Katrina left the La. officials let their guard down saying "we were lucky, we missed the worst part of the storm".
Then the levee failed!! The pumping stations failed. and the water rose and rose.
Its a shame, I dont know if alot of people realize how improvished the city was to begin with.

Looting for food, water and even clothes( remeber they have lost clothes too) I can live with. BUT all the electronics no no no. Have you seen they are shooing at the relief effort (sniping Hospitals and such) We deployed Helo's and personnel and had to suspend ops because of that(not shooting at us but in general they stopped the evacs until something could be done). And they wonder why it is taking so long for relief.

We have already been offered help by a lot of other countries, but we won't accept it.

The State Department said offers of help had been received from: Australia, Austria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Belgium, Canada, China, Columbia, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Greece, Guyana, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Paraguay, Philippines, Portugal, South Korea, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela.

International organisations also offered help ranging from medical teams to tents to cash donations. They include NATO, the Organisation of American States, the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, and the World Health Organization.

Pliskin, you cant compare this to the tsunami man,,, Tsunami killed more than 150.000 people in third-world country,,, Katrina has killed maybe 10.000 people but in the worlds strongest and richest country,,, I mean you can put a prize on human lives, Im just saying theyre both disasters but in different scales...
But as Longhornd00D said, we have been offered help, but denied it!

Show me where we have denied it....allot of help is offered initially.....we will need it more in the long run.....geezzzzz..... :bs:
this will take years to repair.....

I know the news only focuses on the Negative, that is why there are so many Theorys about why we the goverment acted so slow. But believe me, by Mon night we had our guys ready But it took til tues to find a place to work out of that had the logistics to support us(because every other military unit was doing the same). My prayers go out to the people effected by the hurricane.

Speaking of looting, found this video in case anyone hasn't seen it, and thought I'd share. Also disgusts me. :bang:

I back you up 100%. I was working Sunday night when the storm was moving in. The Storm wasn't the only thing headed down there. FEMA and the Red Cross were on their way too. Just that when the levee broke, NOBODY, but NOBODY could have moved any faster to save lives. Sure, the flooding scenario was talked about for years, but everyone hoped it wouldn't happen, and when it did no one agency or group could have been on the spot to do it all. This event was just simply bigger than what anyone could handle. Sure mistakes were made, but that's a fact of life and there's nothing you can do to prevent them from ever happening. The city of New Orleans is just as to blame as anybody, afterall , it's their city and their ultimate responsibility.

This is f'n rediculous. I can't believe what you just showed me. I thought it was "protect and serve" not "steal and be obligatorily stupid". I hope that video lands her in a nice 8 x 8 room with a huge sadomasochist butch. The people there deserve so much better from the police than this. :fuss:

have you seen this from FEMA?

or this?:
7:02 P.M. - ATLANTA (AP): Hundreds of firefighters have been sitting in Atlanta, playing cards and taking FEMA history classes, instead of doing what they came to do: help hurricane victims.

The volunteers traveled south and west from around the country, leaving their homes in places like Washington state, Pennsylvania and Michigan. They came after FEMA put out a call for two-thousand firefighters to help with community service.

Firefighters arrived, as told, with lifesaving equipment and sleeping bags.

But one of the waiting volunteers says it might have been better if they'd brought paper and cell phones. That's because some of the emergency responders are being told they will go to South Carolina, to do paperwork.

Others don't know where they'll be put in action.

The FEMA director in charge of firefighters says he's trying to get the volunteers deployed ASAP, but wants to make sure they go to the right place.

One firefighter points to nightly reports of hurricane victims asking how they were forgotten. He says, "we didn't forget, we're stuck in Atlanta drinking beer
