It's not everybody. There are a lot of good people down there suffering. I know the media has talked it up to a degree that makes us think that's all that's happening. I don't think they should have pulled people off of search and rescue to stop looting. Save the people first. Lives are more important than guarding against a pair of wet Nikes being stolen. No matter what the tragedy, there will always be people there to exploit it. It's the nature of the beast called man. Exploited for politics, exploited for free shoes. Yeah.. I just live through a frakin' hurricane and I find the need to go steal SHOES.... NOOOooooooo Water. Food. medication in despiration for my family..MAYBE... But.,,that is just thuggin'. I sure hope none of them drowned with all their clothing..... Grrrr...
On a lighter note... amazing how out of such devastation, there is beauty. Pics 1 and 2 are beautiful.

The State Department said offers of help had been received from: Australia, Austria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Belgium, Canada, China, Columbia, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Greece, Guyana, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Paraguay, Philippines, Portugal, South Korea, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela.
International organisations also offered help ranging from medical teams to tents to cash donations. They include NATO, the Organisation of American States, the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, and the World Health Organization.

I back you up 100%. I was working Sunday night when the storm was moving in. The Storm wasn't the only thing headed down there. FEMA and the Red Cross were on their way too. Just that when the levee broke, NOBODY, but NOBODY could have moved any faster to save lives. Sure, the flooding scenario was talked about for years, but everyone hoped it wouldn't happen, and when it did no one agency or group could have been on the spot to do it all. This event was just simply bigger than what anyone could handle. Sure mistakes were made, but that's a fact of life and there's nothing you can do to prevent them from ever happening. 7:02 P.M. - ATLANTA (AP): Hundreds of firefighters have been sitting in Atlanta, playing cards and taking FEMA history classes, instead of doing what they came to do: help hurricane victims.
The volunteers traveled south and west from around the country, leaving their homes in places like Washington state, Pennsylvania and Michigan. They came after FEMA put out a call for two-thousand firefighters to help with community service.
Firefighters arrived, as told, with lifesaving equipment and sleeping bags.
But one of the waiting volunteers says it might have been better if they'd brought paper and cell phones. That's because some of the emergency responders are being told they will go to South Carolina, to do paperwork.
Others don't know where they'll be put in action.
The FEMA director in charge of firefighters says he's trying to get the volunteers deployed ASAP, but wants to make sure they go to the right place.
One firefighter points to nightly reports of hurricane victims asking how they were forgotten. He says, "we didn't forget, we're stuck in Atlanta drinking beer
