piecing together combo, first step, opinions wanted

Are you guys reading this part? If by street car he means a 10 second street car, then maybe. If he wants a daily driver then he is on the wrong path. 30# injectors, 75mm TB, and a hot cam will not give him a very streetable ride. Custom tune all you want, but from idle up to 4K will really suck.

Do you really think that going from a 70mm tbody to a 75mm tbody will = unstreetable?

The opening on the intake manifold he wants is 75mm already, let him do up the 75mm tbody to match.. Right tb nazi? :D

The cam will be designed for how HE WANTS the car to behave.

Adam, comon you big bad EE, just write a check tomorrow get this all done!

I have to say that last sentence is not what I and others have found and the reason is exactly due to the custom cam & tune.

Two examples to show where I'm getting my thoughts.

1) My combo, the pull is in the sig for anyone to see that from idle to 4K rpm ...... its not too shabby in the torque department.

Some may say that my combo is a little lacking due to it not quite reaching the 300 rwhp mark so lets look at another combo for example two.

2) GTJake's combo, he put up numbers of 326rwhp & 341rwtq so his combo is a bit more hotter than mine.

There have been threads lately where not only Jake and myself but other peeps with combos in this same category have stated that the drivability is near stock like and as for myself, cam lope is the ONLY thing that is different form driving a stocker.

Two things are common in a lot of those combos.

1) custom cam
2) custom tune

Do you have to either or both to make 300 rwhp or better..........................

ABSOLUTELY NOT!

We are talking about cars with the ability to go high 11's to high 12's in the 1/4 so they are not that radical. We are not talking 10 second cars here.

About those 30lbs inj's ...... if you make the adjustments needed, they will behave like 19's on a street car. Same goes for 36's and 42's also. That is all about a custom tune.

It looks to me that you are trying to make peeps think that a car that has been custom tuned, running a custom cam, and using 30lb injectors is not gonna be very streetable and is gonna have a poor low end rpm torque range.

I have done it and IMHO, what is more impressive is others have who put up better numbers than me have done it as well.

Thanks, but big bad ee = big bad loan payment :owned:

I just ordered the street heat, 4.10s (ford racing), and fuel pump (255 lph eddie). Does anyone have the part number / description for the wierd gasket I need when I drop my tank? I think I've read that I need to get it from a Ford dealer seperately but my Ernan style thread search / resurrection failed. :nonono:

its the fill tube gasket looks like a messed up doughnut.

After you see and do the replacement of the doughnut you will join the ranks of those who ask WTF??? WTF??? were they thinking in having a setup like this over the time tested, simple hose clamp on a neck of the tank.

The 75mm TB will give you a loss in throttle response.

30lbers are a bit much on a 302 with h/c/i (300rwhp) car. You will experience hot start problems due to too much cranking fuel upon start-up. Rich idle and surging idle could become present. Especially with ya'll's "trick playing" ECU's over the foxes.

Good Luck!

Nice start. Are you going to do the tweecer at this time too? I'd do a new fuel filter while i'm there changing the pump. May wanna look into new rear end clutches too for the trac lock.

TB Guru -
I just did a new fuel filter 2 weeks ago, so I'm all set there. In terms of the trac-lock thats definately something to think about.

I'm waiting for payday next thursday then I'll be ordering the Tweecer, I figure this should keep me relatively busy for a couple weekends as I freely admit to being somewhat of a noob and this is the first time I will be doing any of these things myself.

Thanks for the PN, just picked that up.

Scott - I'm going with the street heat because I prefer the lower power band. I would consider porting at a later date if I'm not satisfied, but as for right now I'm going to stay with the street heat.
