pilot bearing installation

when you install the pilot bearing I know you have to put the nothched side forward, but does it have to "fit" into anything on the crank side, besides just being seated flat? I'm doind a 5spd swap the day after thanksgiving, so any help asap is appreciated. thanks in advance.

Nope , just make sure you have it completely seated & square in the crank.

The notches are just there so you can grab it with a puller. They dont have to be oriented any particular direction.
