I am putting a hyrdaulic clutch in my kids' '65 289 manual transmission car. Front discs are the basic Stainless Steel Brakes Company's 4-piston factory-like kit. Rear drums are stock.
I am running into an interference problem between the hydraulic clutch master cylinder and the 7" booster of the Trans Am Racing dual reservoir MC pdb kit that I had put in. Here's a pic of the clutch MC:
I need to raise the booster to clear this clutch MC. I saw this pic of a bell-crank booster that mdjay was considering cannibalizing:
I also saw that PM 65 says he has a similar-looking bellcrank booster that he got from NPD, pn 2005-20FB, for his 4-wheel discs. I see that NPD has one for "MT, disc, with dual res. master cyl" pn 2005-20EB.
Well, to cut to the chase, I am thinking that I need a bell crank booster. I can't use a unit with a straight-in pushrod, because that requires the centerlines of the booster and the brake MC to sit too low.
So my question to PM 65 is, does the booster in the picture match your NPD unit exactly?
My question to mdjay is, do you sell this booster and would it do what I want, to move the booster up higher and avoid the interference with my clutch MC?
One more factoid of possible interest is that I am running the Maier Racing one-piece underhood shocktower brace, and I have removed the welded-on ears from the shocktowers. Also, I have an adjustable prop valve in the rear brakes circuit.
Also, I have a very soft pedal -- the exact opposite of PM 65's problems -- and have never been very happy with the SSBC-Trans Am Racing kit. So any advice on how to improve on that problem is welcome.
