I want a bit more sound out of my 02 GT but I'm not sure what to go with. Everything is stock, I dont want too loud of a sound and I am not sure whether I should go for a cat-back system or just replace the stock H-pipe with an aftermarket H pipe. What are the positives and negatives of both choices? The only pain is that it has to have cats because of inspection reasons :bang: . Any suggestions?

i just recently put an slp cat back on my 02gt and love the sound and performance gain. its almost as loud as a 5.0 with an h-pipe and cat back and i still have cats...
they were a great buy in my book.....

the mid-pipe will give you more power. I would go with a magnaflow catted x-pipe! As for the cat-back that is up to you because everybody has there own choice. But magnapacks and a magnaflow catted x-pipe would sound good....:)

definallty replace the midpipe first. anyone who would tell you diffened probably still has thiers. the fact that is has to have cats changes the problem a little bit because of the $$$ they cost. if all you really only want sound just pick a louder catback. if you plan do them both eventually anyway do the midpipe first. for example slp is proably the loudest catback out there. I would bet my borla w o/r pipe is lounder than a slp with the stock midpipe. there is a huge difference when you ditch the 4 cats. so once you had the slp and midepipe it is going to be louder than you want. so you kind of have to choose based on the future. you could alwasy just buy and offroad midpipe and swap the factory one back in for inspection. only takes 45min or so.
